It’s Superman meets Trevor Slattery! All right, so it’s not actually a DC/Marvel mash-up (that we would totally watch), it’s really just news that Henry Cavill and Ben Kingsley are leading the cast of new psychological thriller Nomis.
Baywatch’s Alexandra Daddario has also signed on to the film, which writer-director David Raymond is busy preparing to shoot in Canada this month. The Hollywood Reporter’s story doesn’t specify what they’ll be doing in the film, but we do know that the story finds an American police force trapping an online predator, only to discover that the depth of his crimes goes beyond anything they had thought.
“I’m overjoyed by our cast,” says Raymond. “Henry’s got such a strong presence onscreen, but he’s also incredibly smart and has a wicked sense of humor. I think people are going to be blown away by what he’s going to do with this role. Sir Ben is always incredible. I wrote the character for him, so I was quite relieved when he signed on. Alexandra is a raw talent and has an undeniable electricity, which is exactly why I wanted her in this role.”
Cavill has war film Sand Castle arriving later this year and will be back in the cape for Justice League, out 17 November. Kingsley will be seen in Collide and Backstabbing For Beginners, while Daddario’s Baywatch is due 2 June.
September 07 Los Angeles Film Festival Sets ‘Nomis’ for Closing Night
One of Henry’s upcoming projects will be coming sooner than we all thought, as the Los Angeles Film Festival selects Nomis for its closing night on September 28th!
DEADLINE – The Los Angeles Film Festival will close with the world premiere of first-time writer/director David Raymond’s psychological thriller Nomis, which will screen on Sept. 28 at the Arclight Hollywood Cinerama Dome.
The film focuses on a police trap for online predator Simon Stulls. They soon realize that the extent of his crimes go far beyond that of his own psychological trauma. Nothing quite makes sense – that is, until people involved in the case on both sides of the law start getting murdered. Nomis stars Henry Cavill, Sir Ben Kingsley, Nathan Fillion, Minka Kelly, Alexandra Daddario and Stanley Tucci.
“As a festival that has always championed new voices, it is only fitting to be closing this year with the work of a first-time writer/director,” said Jennifer Cochis, LA Film Festival Director. “In Nomis, David Raymond created a thrilling film made all the more terrifying by the performances from his incredible cast.”

November 30 Saban Films Acquires ‘Nomis’ for U.S. Distribution
After premiering at the Los Angeles Film Festival last September, Nomis is finally headed to U.S. cinemas in 2019! No official release date yet, but it’s a start.
VARIETY – Saban Films has acquired U.S. distribution rights to David Raymond’s directorial debut “Nomis,” starring Henry Cavill, Ben Kingsley, and Alexandra Daddario.
The L.A. Film Festival selected “Nomis” as its closing night film on Sept. 28 at the ArcLight Hollywood Cinerama Dome. The showing was the world premiere for “Nomis,” which follows American police trapping an online predator, only to realize the depth of his crimes goes far beyond anything they had anticipated. As new leads emerge and the case unravels, Cavill’s character teams with a local vigilante (Kingsley) in pursuit of vengeance.
The thriller also stars Stanley Tucci, Minka Kelly, and Nathan Fillion. Raymond wrote the script, and also produced alongside Robert Ogden Barnum, Arise Pictures’ Chris Pettit, Buffalo Gals’ Jeff Beesley, and Rick Dugdale.
Saban Films’ Bill Bromiley said, “This is a beautifully crafted tension-filled thriller with a cast that, undeniably, our audiences will love. ‘Nomis’ is a fun and entertaining ride and we’re very excited to be onboard.”
