December 26 Gallery Update: Whatever Works and Interview Screencaps

Taking a break from the Christmas madness it’s happening in my home just because I wanted to add some more screencaps. I saw “Whatever Works” this morning I have to admit that I really liked it, I love all the Woody Allen’s movies but people told me this movie was sooo bad and I have to disagree!! Boris was fraktastic and I loved every single scenes with Henry in it (OBVIOUSLY :p). I’ve added also a bunch of screencaps from two interviews Henry made in the last months. The first one is from the Tribeca Film Festival when he was promoting “Whatever Works”, the second one is from the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland. How cute were Rod Hallett and Andrew McNair making fun of Henry because he tried to memorize a press release without success? I lolled so hard! Oh Henry please don’t ever change!! *ROTFL*

February 01 Show Biz Chez Nous: Stars to shine in our town

One of the priciest pictures set to shoot here (Montreal) is Dawn of War, a $115-million production starring Henry Cavill from the hit TV series The Tudors. This epic set in ancient Greece is expected to be a special effects-laden film that will, according to director Tarsem Singh, have a real contemporary look to it.

Pre-production on Dawn of War was recently halted so the producers could look into the possibility of shooting the film in 3-D, which would add something like $15 million to the budget. Following the record-breaking success of 3-D hit Avatar, studio executives in Hollywood are more eager than ever to make films in the new state-of-art 3–D.

February 17 SECRET IDENTITY: Who Should Play Superman?

Not only is Superman flying back to the big screen, he’s doing so under the watchful eye of “The Dark Knight” filmmaker Christopher Nolan. With Nolan’s sensibilities guiding the film’s tone, you can bet that this is going to be a more mature — though not necessarily dark — “Superman” movie.

As the rights to the character’s Kryptonian origins are currently in murky legal waters, I think it’s best if the next movie dives directly into the Man of Steel’s status as an established hero. Personally, I’d love to see Superman in his late 30s, a seasoned veteran at the superhero game. That’s not to everybody’s taste, of course, so I’m keeping an open mind towards younger actors as well.

There’s no question that Superman is a difficult role to cast, but these five actors — two older, two younger and one familiar — could make you believe a man can fly.

JOHN BARROWMAN: Without a doubt, John Barrowman has the perfect look and charisma for the Man of Steel — assuming the role goes to an older actor, of course. At 42, Barrowman’s cutting it a little bit close when it comes to donning the hero’s blue and red tights, but I think it’s forgivable considering how perfectly suited he is for the character otherwise. Frankly, I think he’d be an even better Superman than Captain America, though he’d be great at both.

MATTHEW BOMER: Back when Brett Ratner was attached to direct a “Superman” film, Matthew Bomer was tapped as the Last Son of Krypton. And while Ratner’s been the target of much fanboy ire lately, he had good reason to pick Bomer — he’s got the right look and enough anonymity that he wouldn’t be distracting as Superman. If that’s something that Nolan and his eventual team are valuing, then Bomer deserves another shot.

HENRY CAVILL: Another former contender for Superman, back when McG was at the helm, was actor Henry Cavill. Several years have passed since Cavill missed out on the role — and he’s done a whole lot of growing up, as seen in his portrayal of Charles Brandon on “The Tudors,” a character that balances nobility with a willingness to get the job done. Just a few years shy of 30, perhaps now is the right time for Cavill to come back to Superman.

JON HAMM: A few months ago, Kevin Smith endorsed “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm as both Batman and Superman. I couldn’t agree more. Hamm would work equally well as either character for very different reasons, but there’s a charm and even a somewhat nerdy side to the actor that makes him perfect for Clark Kent. Of course, he’s also got the brawn to back it up as the Man of Steel. If Nolan and the powers that be are looking for a seasoned Superman, Hamm is the guy.

BRANDON ROUTH: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. While “Superman Returns” clearly had its flaws, Brandon Routh was not one of them. Rebooting a series while hanging onto the same leading actor isn’t an enviable task, but in the case of Routh, it’s worth trying to figure it out. He got a raw deal in that he was asked to take over Christopher Reeve’s version of the character, but given enough of a wingspan, I think that Routh could put his own unique stamp on the Man of Steel.

March 05 Rourke set for ‘War of the Gods’

Mickey Rourke will star in Relativity Media’s Greek mythology clash “War of the Gods” opposite Henry Cavill and Freida Pinto.
Rourke’s been cast as the villain, King Hyperion. Tarsem Singh is directing with production set to start in April.
Story follows a young warrior Theseus who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind.
“War of the Gods” will be produced by Gianni Nunnari of Hollywood Gang Prods., Mark Canton of Atmosphere Entertainment and Relativity topper Ryan Kavanaugh. Nunnari and Canton partnered on 2007’s “300,” producing the sword-and-sandals saga for Warner Bros.
Universal will distribute. Relativity’s Tucker Tooley and Craig Flores of Hollywood Gang are exec producing.
Jason Keller penned the most recent draft of the script. An earlier version was written by Christian Gudegast; producers began development in 2008 after buying a spec from Charley and Vlas Parlapanides.
Rourke will be seen next as the Russian villain in “Iron Man 2” opposite Robert Downey Jr., who recruited Rourke for the part during last year’s awards season.

Rourke is repped by ICM.

March 16 “Blood Creek” HD Screencaptures

Just added over 900 HD screencaptures from the movie “Blood Creek”. The movie was not so good, but Henry and Fassbender were in it. Ok…It was bad, but I could watch it over and over again until my brain would explode or just packing. Also, is it just me or it looked like a prequel or the first part of something?

July 23 Kellan Lutz Vs. Henry Cavill

It’s not often we get excited about nor condone violence in any way. However, when a proposed battle involves the likes of two gorgeous men like Kellan Lutz and Henry Cavill possibly fighting in barely-there Greek togas, we make an exception.

The two hotties will face off against one another in the upcoming “Immortals” (formerly known as “Gods of War”), and when we caught up with “Twilight” hunk recently, we had to ask him who would win in a fight: Kellan’s Greek God of the sea or Henry’s Titan Theseus?

“Well, I play Poseidon so I have that godly aspect,” Kellan said. “But Henry’s a strong kid. It was really fun working with him and seeing him train because he went through months and months of training. I wish I could have a movie where was able to do that because he went through some intense stuff. He’s a buff kid.”

The upcoming film, which also stars Frieda Pinto and Isabel Lucas, is directed by “The Fall”‘s unique visionary, Tarsem Singh. It is slated for release in November 2011.

What do you think of a Lutz vs. Cavill face-off? Will you go see the film?

July 30 Henry to Star in Kidnapping Thriller

Henry Cavill, one of the stars of “The Tudors,” will topline “The Cold Light of Day”, a kidnapping thriller from Intrepid Pictures and Summit.
Mabrouk El Mechri, who directed the faux Jean-Claude Van Damme documentary “JCVD,” is behind the camera, with Intrepid principals Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans producing.
The story centers on a cocky young Wall Street trader who reluctantly vacations with his family in Spain. When his family is kidnapped, he is thrust into a government conspiracy and must unravel his father’s darkest secret in order to save his loved ones.
Richard Price is writing a production pass on the original script written by Scott Wiper and John Petro.
The movie is set for a Sept. 6 start in Spain.
Steven Zaillian, Kevin Mann, Matthew Perniciaro and Wiper are executive producing. Spanish producer Galavis Film will co-produce, with Galavis’ Jesus Martinez also executive producing.
Summit is distributing domestically and selling international rights.
Cavill, repped by CAA and United Agents, has been gaining stature on the strength of his performance as Charles Brandon on Showtime’s “Tudors.” He has been near the top of several casting lists and scored the role of Theseus in “Immortals,” Tarsem Singh’s big-budget Greek god fantasy. “Cold Light” is Cavill’s first major starring vehicle.

September 07 News from Henry and the Team!

News from Henry’s Management Team-AWESOME! ♥♥♥

SO WHAT’S HENRY BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK?

Last week, Henry travelled from Madrid across to the coastal Alicante region of Spain. Yesterday saw the start of filming. There has been some studio work and today he has been shooting some scenes in a secluded bay. Although the weather was beautiful, and it was set on a small beach, Henry worked very hard due to the usual re-shoots required in order to get as many camera angles as possible doing the same shot.

As part of Henry’s Management Team, I attended the shoot, and spoke with Henry about the film and also to update him on what his fans have been saying, and asking. I am meeting with him again shortly and he will be passing me a personal message for all of you, his loyal fans. I may also be permitted to post up a photo from today on location.

September 08 Shooting starts on Bruce Willis film in Alicante

News from the movie, but I think this magazine got the wrong summary. Am I wrong? Willis is the father and Henry is the son, right?

Shooting has started for the latest Bruce Willis action film on the Alicante coast.

The thriller has the title ‘The Cold Light of Day’ and also stars Henry Cavill from The Tudors, and Sigourney Weaver.
It tells the story of an American whose family is kidnapped when on holiday in Spain. Bruce Willis only has a few hours to find them, and discover the connection between their disappearance and the secrets of his father.
The film will be shot entirely in Spain and is produced by Galavis Film, Summit Entertainment and Intrepid Pictures. It is directed by Mabrouk El-Mechri, and based on an original screenplay by Scott Wiper and John Petro, with revisions by Richard Price. Much of the production team is Spanish in what is a joint Spanish/United States project.
Ten weeks filming is expected in the Valencia region, as well as in Madrid and in the Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante.
Shooting started on Monday this week in Dénia, and continued Tuesday on the Cala de la Granadella beach in Jávea where some of the action scenes were shot.

April 03 Henry Cavill’s Body is Being ‘Fine-Tuned and Tweaked’

Zack Snyder’s Superman to-be (and Amy Adams’ next co-star) Henry Cavill has already gotten super-hot in order to play a Greek hero in Immortals, but now he has to get hot in a whole new way in order to play Superman. “Cavill spent months on Tarsem’s Immortals, maintaining six percent body fat, and, he jokes, competing with his co-stars to see ‘who had the best abs,'” Movieline reports, following an investigation. “I’m not quite in Immortals shape like I was, but I’ve got the base there again,” Cavill said. “When you see the Immortals shape you’ll see what I mean. We obviously haven’t had the final brief yet [on ‘Superman shape’], it’s going to adapt and change as [my trainer] sees my body adapting to the training. He’ll go, ‘Okay, Henry can do this,’ or, ‘His body will look better like that.’ It’ll be fine-tuned and tweaked as we go along. But I think it’s going to be a different sort of shape from Immortals.” In his defense, Snyder has said he wants an old-school, super-buff Superman, but, man, who knew getting hot in multiple ways could be so complicated? [Movieline]

April 03 Henry talks about his first time in the Superman suit

Motion Captured – One of the benefits of being at an event like WonderCon is that you sit down with people who are involved in some of the most-anticipated projects for genre fans, and you get to be among the first people to talk about those projects with them.

I’ll be moderating the panel for Tarsem Singh’s new film “Immortals” later today, and the star of that film is Henry Cavill, who, of course, has been cast to play the lead role in Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Superman.”

Cavill is a guy who has been on the cusp of superstardom for a while now. He was almost James Bond. He was almost Bryan Singer’s Superman. He even read for Batman at one point. And yet, in each of those moments, someone else ended up playing the part. Now, finally, on the strength of his work in “The Tudors” and the early buzz around his performance in “Immortals,” it feels like Henry is having that moment.

Sitting down with him today, most of the conversation had to do with “Immortals,” but we did take the time to talk about stepping into the suit of one of the most recognizable characters on Earth. My impression of Cavill after spending a few minutes chatting with him is that he’s a dynamic choice for the role.

We spoke a bit about Superman during our time together, and while we’ll have our full “Immortals” conversation for you later, we wanted to share the “Superman” stuff with you immediately, since there’s such intense curiosity about who he is and what he’s going to bring to the role.

Despite a cell phone mishap and me managing to scare the hell out of Cavill about his appearance on the panel in the afternoon, I think it was a good chat, and I find myself much more relaxed now about the choice that Snyder and Nolan made to hire Cavil.

I already knew that with today’s technology, we will believe a man can fly. What’s far more important is believing in him as a person, and I think in Cavill, Warner Bros. has finally found the man for the job.

April 03 Henry Cavill Calls ‘Superman’ Co-Star Amy Adams ‘Fantastic’

In his first on-camera interview since being cast as Superman in Zack Snyder’s reboot, the new Man of Steel, actor Henry Cavill, chatted about everything from his research for the part to what it will be like working with his Lois Lane, Amy Adams.

MTV News caught up with Cavill at WonderCon 2011, where he was promoting his upcoming film “Immortals,” in which he plays a Greek warrior. Turns out Cavill won’t be able to take much of a break after such a daunting role, as he’ll soon gear up to wear Superman’s iconic cape. Cavill said the training for “Superman” will be a “similar kind of thing” to that of “Immortals,” adding, “It’s going to be intense.”

Still, it’s not just the physical aspect Cavill will have to focus on: He’ll also have to slip into the psyche of the complex superhero for the tentatively titled “Superman: Man of Steel.” Cavil said he’s done “plenty of comic book research” in order to gather as much information as he can “as to who this man is.”

The star explained that by reading the “Superman” comics, he’ll pick up on the “key characteristics” in order to get “a general idea of what he is, and then working from there.”

Cavill also opened up about why it was important to stay true to the iconic character, even with Snyder’s new, modern twist. “Superman is Superman, after all. There’s only so much of a change you can make to that,” he said.

As he continues to map out how to play the role, he’s already got his leading lady, Amy Adams, lined up and ready to go.

It was confirmed a week ago that Adams, fresh off her Best Supporting Actress Oscar nod for “The Fighter,” would play Superman’s love interest, Lois Lane. Cavill, who revealed he’d met with Adams for a screen test, said he was “looking forward to working with” her, calling his newly announced co-star a “fantastic actress, very talented.”

He isn’t the only one who’s excited about having Adams tackle the iconic female role. Snyder called her “one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today,” while Margot Kidder, the original Lois Lane, gushed, “She’s a brilliant, wonderful actress! She’s incredible. She’s an extraordinarily accomplished young lady — and gorgeous and full of energy and spirit. She’s so different from part to part, it’s going to be really interesting to see what she does with Lois.”

Cavill noted that the age difference between he and Adams (he’s 27, she’s 36) was nothing more than happenstance, saying that making the nine-year difference part of the story line would be for Snyder to decide. Cavill said of the age gap: “I don’t think it matters at all.”

Regarding those who argue Adams is too old to star opposite Cavill, Kidder said, “Who cares? What a bizarre thing to be concerned about. She certainly doesn’t look older than him.”

April 04 Tarsem’s ‘Immortals’ Unleashed at WonderCon with a Badass Trailer

“If there is one human who could lead them against Hyperion, it would be Theseus…”

After the presentation at WonderCon, “Immortals” it’s being considered the most antecipated movie from 2011.

A trailer has been saw and I cannot read anything but excitement about it.

It’s hard to describe all of the footage and I’m sure the trailer we saw will be out very soon, but it looked like a visually astounding and completely badass new take on Greek mythology. There were epic battles that, using CGI, looked to have the scope and scale of Return of the King’s Minas Tirith battle, with thousands upon thousands of troops lined up outside of a massive mountain fortress. Mickey Rourke, who plays the main villain King Hyperion (Cavill described him as a “scary dude”), looks insanely brutal and intimidating, wearing a helmet with sharp metal spikes that encircled his entire head. There were tons of stylized slow-mo fight scenes and Luke Evans playing Zeus swinging a whip made entirely of fire. It. Looks. AWESOME! [First Showing]

The trailer wasn’t leaked yet, and I hope they release it soon.

April 07 Henry Cavill And Luke Evans Talk ‘Immortals’

Relativity Media recently offered audiences their first glimpse at “Immortals,” a stylish, mythological adventure directed by filmmaker Tarsem (“The Fall,” “The Cell”). Before Tarsem and producer Mark Canton (“300”) screened a few minutes of footage from the coming movie, Speakeasy sat down with two of the film’s stars, Henry Cavill (who’s set to play Superman in Zack Snyder’s franchise reboot “Man of Steel”) and actor Luke Evans, for a conversation about the challenges of bringing new life to old myths.

How tough is it to connect with the grandiosity of stories about the gods, and make sure everything also feels immediate and relatable to contemporary audiences?

Luke Evans: I think as an actor you have to be able to relate to the role before you take the job, whether it be a god or whatever. You have to see something in your character that you can relate to. And I’m sure Henry did the same thing, but I look at the role Henry played, and I can relate to what he goes through; he has a struggle on his hands – he lost his mother, he finds his feet, he falls in love, all of these things, they’re human feelings. So I can relate to that, and what I had to do with Zeus is make people understand that this god wasn’t just a [guy throwing] lightning bolts, he had feelings and he cared about these people on earth, and that was my responsibility, to prove that in what I did on screen. continue reading

April 07 Tarsem Singh talks about Henry casting for “Immortals”

If you didn’t know who British actor Henry Cavill was six months ago, you do now thanks to the 27-year-old actor landing the coveted Man of Steel role in Zack Snyder‘s “upcoming Superman” reboot.

And while it seems like a no-brainer move now—Cavill has the looks, chops and build; he had tested for Christopher Nolan‘s “Batman Begins” and Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns” and seemed poised to eventually score one of these plum roles—the actor’s name carried very little weight at the time and to hear the producers of the upcoming “Immortals” tell it, confidence in the actor leading their swords and sandals fantasy epic wasn’t exactly high.

“Henry tested for us and then we stayed with it,” Marc Canton, one of the producers of “Immortals,” said this past weekend at WonderCon of their lead acting choice. “There was a lot of debate about him, because we got pushed back many months in making the movie and eventually we went and we stayed the course [with Henry].” continue reading

April 10 Michael Shannon cast as “Zod” in Superman

It was just released that Michael Shannon (“Boardwalk Empire”) will play the villainous General Zod in what is now officially titled Man of Steel. As General Zod, Shannon will go toe-to-toe with Henry Cavill, who plays the new Clark Kent/Superman in the film. Along with Cavill, Shannon and Adams the film co-stars Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Man of Steel will shoot this summer for a December 2012 release.

April 13 Taking A Walk With Superman

MTV’s Josh Horowitz got to meet the “Man of Steel” himself, Henry Cavill, at WonderCon this year, and he definitely proved himself as the world’s next Superman. Though he says he might not be feeling the pressure just yet, we have a feeling that that will change soon enough.

April 13 Diane Lane Talks ‘Superman: Man of Steel’ Script

Venerable actress, Diane Lane is one of the few people cast in director Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman: Man of Steel.’ In the film, she’s to play Martha Kent, the adoptive mother of the titled hero, who’s played by Henry Cavill. Speaking with E! Online, Lane revealed that she has in fact read the script, and she even hints at the film’s structure. She said:

“I read the script under lock and key. I was locked in a room with the script and was only allowed three hours with it. I nailed it into my memory. I’m really excited. I’m really not allowed to talk much about it, I think, but it does cover the entire range of years, from infancy on.”

This definitely suggests that ‘Man of Steel’ is an origin story similar to Christopher Nolan’s ‘Batman Begins.’ With the popular television series, ‘Smallville’ — which focuses on the younger years of Clark Kent — coming to a close, it looks like Snyder’s film is going to take its place in terms of beginning the legend. How long ‘Man of Steel’ spends on the younger years of Clark obviously isn’t known. It could be a classic case of him being a baby during the opening scene and then it fast-forwards to him flying through the skies of Metropolis in his traditional garb a couple of scenes after. Either that or it could dwell on a certain time period, opening up the possibility for sequels.

In addition to Lane and Cavill, ‘Superman: Man of Steel’ features Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and the newly announced Michael Shannon as villain, General Zod. The film currently has a tentative release date of December, 2012. [Source]

May 02 Five Potential Spoilers for New Superman Flick

E! Online did a list with potential spoilers for next Superman with all informations we already have. Check it:

1. Krypton Will Be the Place to Be: Superman Homepage editor Steve Younis is intrigued by the commitment to General Zod (to be played by Michael Shannon) and the prospect of Faora, two aggrieved types who hail from our hero’s home planet. (The Hollywood Reporter says the villainess could actually be Ursa, Sarah Douglas’ baddie from the first two movies who was based on Faora, but no difference: Ursa is also from Krypton.) “It leads me to believe that we might see more focus on Superman’s Kryptonian heritage,” Younis said in an email. “Maybe even an attempt by Zod to make Earth a new Krypton, or at least an attempt to stamp his authority over the planet.”

2. Zod Will Kill, Literally: Yes, Terence Stamp was a chilling menace in Superman I and II, but did you see Shannon go off in Revolutionary Road? “Terrence Stamp—[his Zod] never actually killed anyone,” Superman Super Site editor Neil Cole told us. “I could actually see Michael Shannon’s Zod going to the point of completely annihilating people.”

3. Superman Will Be Pretty Much Screwed: Not only could Zod be more brutal, but Faora, Younis said, “has been a far more ruthless Kryptonian villain than Ursa.”

4. Lois Lane Will Not Kid Around: In Superman Returns, the then-23-year-old Kate Bosworth played the Daily Planet’s ace reporter as a young, single mom. Cole expects Man of Steel’s 36-year-old Amy Adams, unveiled as Lois last month, to bring “more seriousness to the role, kind of in the vein that Margot Kidder did [in the Christopher Reeve movies], one that’s more established in her career.”

5. Ma and Pa Kent Will Be Bigville:
“Diane Lane[‘s casting] and Kevin Costner’s casting tells me that the Kents involvement in this film will be important and pivotal to the main story,” Younis said.

May 21 A few more little gallery updates

Today I added screencaptures of a tv movie Henry did back in 2002, “Goodbye, Mr.Chips“. Is a very small role with only two scenes, but very emotional. Also a few interview screencaptures from “The Tudors” era. Little by little we’re going to get our gallery complete.

May 25 Will be Henry taking part at “Justice League” movie?

I was just reading an announcement at Screenrant.com about Jim Lee and Geoff Johns (DC Comics legendaries) taking part of Superman panel at Hero Complex Film Festival next month.
Both are describing it as “bombshell announcements about the future of Superman and the entire DC Universe”. Since it’s a film festival panel, it seems it must refer an announcement regarding Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel movie.

Won’t be intriguing if it wasn’t part of the statement the “entire DC Universe” mention. So, it could mean an announcement of “Justice League” movie. Back in March, the movie was confirmed and even there’s not a release date yet, the desired date is 2013. Men of Steel and Nolan’s The Dark Night Rise’s will be released in 2012, so the movies cannot be released in the same year.

Snyder told, after the “Justice League” announcement, that Henry will not be part of “Justice League” movie, since his “Men of Steel” will be it’s own separate thing apart the new superhero movies. Which I don’t get it, I mean, why they would do a Superman movie in 2012, and then reprise the role in a brand new movie with another actor in the next year?

Let’s just wait. Any news will be, of course, posted here.

June 07 Henry Cavill and Amy Adams as Clark & Lois

MovieNewz have released a movie (manipulated) image of Amy Adams and Henry Cavill as Lois & Clark in the upcoming Superman reboot “Man Of Steel.” They are also reporting that director Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. are considering the city of Plano, Illinois to film the new Superman Man of Steel in August.

According to this newspaper, the city’s Mayor has not yet received final confirmation that Plano has been selected as the filming location but confirmed that he has been in secret talks with Warner Bros. for a few weeks. Possible shooting locations could include property near Fox River for a “bus-crashes-in-river scene,” Centennial Elementary School, built in the ’50s; and the city’s “older downtown.”

June 07 Richard Donner on “The Man of Steel” reboot

Today’s the release of “Superman: The Motion Picture Anthology (1978-2006)” and MTV has talk with the great Richard Donner, director of the first Superman movie. He anwered some question, including one about Henry cast as Superman.

MTV: What do you think of the upcoming reboot of the “Superman” franchise and the new lead, Henry Cavill?

DONNER: It’s going to be really tough on this guy, but he’s a wonderful actor and has a great director working with him. I think they’ll do a sensational job, because I truly believe their dedication to the product is honest. That film that they’re making, they believe in it, and that’s all you need: a good director, and to believe in your project. You can’t ask for more.

June 08 Cain: Cavill will be ‘fantastic’

Dean Cain wishes British actor Henry Cavill all the best in his new role of Superman. The American actor starred as the superhero alongside Teri Hatcher in hit 90s TV show Lois And Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

“They (journalists) asked me because he’s a Brit you know, so they said ‘a Brit’s going to go play Superman and it’s a big deal. How did I feel about that?’ like it’s a big affront. I have no problem with that whatsoever because the reality is the character himself Superman was from another planet but he was raised in the middle of America with small town American values.

It’s a tough role. I think he’s going to do fantastically he’s a very good actor. You never know what you’re going to get into. It’s a big role, it’s an iconic role. I wish him luck.

June 15 Man of Steel updates

Man of Steel is expected to have a late 2012 release with production beginning next month.

June 25 “Man of Steel” cast updates

And the cast of “Man of Steel” is becoming more and more stellar. To follow the big-name players Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams and Diane Lane, we have now Julia Ormond as Lara, the biological mother of Clark Kent and Christopher Meloni, most known for his role on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU. Deadline still doesnt’ has a word about what character Meloni will be playing, but I’m guessing Lex Luthor has just been cast.

July 04 ‘Immortals’ Set Visit: Theseus

Here’s a Coming Soon interview with the whole cast of “Immortals”:

Henry Cavill – Theseus

Q: How exciting and terrifying is it to be in such a big production?
Henry Cavill: Very exciting. More exciting than it is terrifying, really. I felt the pressure at one point. I had to be in a certain kind of shape, it was getting close to punch day, and I only had so long left to recondition the body. I suppose that I was a bit stressed over that. That’s been the most difficult thing, just maintaining that throughout. But otherwise, extraordinarily exciting, especially working with a director like Tarsem, who has boundless energy.

July 18 “Man of Steel” script being rewrited

According to Movie Hole, Warner Brothers and Snyder needed someone to do some rewriting and the original script writer was kind of busy with his new project, “Godzilla”. So, Kurt Johnstad is working on the script…

Now that Goyer’s is off The Man of Steel and on to Godzilla, Snyder got Kurt Johnstad (whose his regular, go-to writer, including 300, that Last Photograph project that Bale’s attached to now originating from Snyder’s noggin and that 300 spin-off) to take over for rewrites. Jonah Nolan took a pass on it too.

What isn’t clear is what is being rewrite. I hope a bit more of action.

July 20 “Man of Steel” Filming Locations in West Chicago

We just received a quick update to the filming schedule for Man of Steel and it appears they will begin filming in Illinois a few days earlier than expected.

According to one of our tipsters, Andy, Superman, aka Autumn Frost, is scheduled to begin filming in the town of West Chicago, IL on July 26-27.

The shoot is expected to take place at the Industrial Park next to the Dupage County Airport in West Chicago.

There is no word yet about what exactly they will be filming, but we do know the shoot was approved in a town meeting a couple weeks ago for those two days only.

July 21 Man of Steel Moved to Summer 2013

In a major unexpected news, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Zack Snyder’s Superman movie Man of Steel will be released in theaters on June 14, 2013 and not in December of 2012 as was previously believed.

No other films have been scheduled for that date yet.

Thanks @ManofSteel2012 for the heads up.

Edit – Added more information about it:

Just a few moments ago, news hit the internet the release date for Zach Snyder’s Man of Steel has been changed from December, 2012 to June 14, 2013, causing fans to take to their Twitter and Facebook accounts in what became a near frenzy seeking confirmations and more information.

Dave McNary with Variety.com repots Warner Bros Pictures announced this change today. Upon immediately hearing this, a rep for the film was contacted who states “a release date has not been announced.” What to make of this? As an official release has not been found from Warner Bros Pictures on this date change, people may be left to assume Variety holds the trump card for all things Man of Steel related. It could also be the movie’s rep is not going to confirm this until an official announcement is released by Warner Bros. (Source)

July 23 Comic-Con: Immortals Panel Highlights

The Immortals panel was fast, but a huge success. I was like crazy looking into any feed I could to see people’s impressions. Well, Henry, you did it. People is crazy about him, and SO looking forward about him now as Superman.
And his shape is something incredible. He’s working hard to get the exact shape wanted for the part, and his looking great. And I mean, GREAT. You’ll see when pictures start to pop, if you didn’t noticed in the video previously posted.

Here’s some highlights on the panel:

Henry Cavill on voice in character: “You don’t want to make it sound stuffy, but at the same time stay loyal to the age of a character like Theseus. Try not to be too English about it and not too American either.”
Henry Cavill on being a fan of mythology: “Yes, been a fan of mythology since I was a little boy.”
Freida Pinto on her sex scene with Henry: “How can it be embarrassing, you’re with Henry.”
Frida Pinto’s favorite part about filming Immortals:” Watching the fine men! Also, that the women remain covered while then men don’t.”
Henry Cavill on Man of Steel: “It’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. I’m excited by it, humbled by the whole experience and can’t wait to get started.”

It was also showed two new footages, in 3D. More about the panel will be posted here, also pics and interviews. Stay with us!

Edit: My friend Nina sent over some Twitter pictures from the panel she’s been collecting. There’s no signal, infortunately, of who took it. If you did it, please, send me an email, comment, smoke signal, to be credited under each photo, ok? Same if you want it to be taken down (which I hope not).

Also talking about that, a mention or link back when find pictures here at our site is really appreciated. I enjoy sharing things with fans, but also enjoy when you told your followers/visitors where did you get it first, specially concerning videos/captures/scans. Thanks!

July 23 ‘Immortals’ Is ‘More Hardcore’ Than The Trailers Suggest

Right at the start of Relativity’s Hall H panel for their swords and sandal, Gods and Titans epic film Immortals, director Tarsem Singh was quick to say that the trailers that have been released for the film are for everyone. The film itself, he said, was darker and “more hardcore” than those trailers suggested. To bolster his point, he showed an extended sort of red band trailer and then a pivotal action scene that takes place late in the movie. Oh, and he also paraded out stars Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz and Frieda Pinto. Read about the footage and find out if Tarsem is telling the truth after the jump. continue reading

July 23 Man of Steel: Henry Cavill reacts to production delay

Plenty of fans were surprised when news broke that the release date for Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, “Man of Steel,” was pushed back six months to June 14, 2013 — but none more so than the would-be superhero himself, Henry Cavill.

“They broke it to me gently,” he told MTV News on Saturday (July 23) at San Diego Comic-Con. “I was just told the other day. It’s OK, it’s nothing to do with me. That’s stuff which I have no control over. I just focus on the character and do my job.”

Speaking of stepping into the shoes of the iconic superhero — or tights, rather — Cavill said he’s “prepared enough” but anxious to start production. “I’m really raring to go,” he said. “It’s exciting, humbling, and about time to get started.”

July 24 Comic-Con: HQ add-ons

Thanks.

July 24 Collider Interview

With visionary director Tarsem Singh at the helm, Immortals is certain to be a film that is much talked about, when it hits theaters in November. An epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny among the Greek Gods, it promises to be a stylish and spectacular 3D adventure that is as unique as the filmmaker himself. In it, actor Henry Cavill plays Theseus, a stonemason who vows to avenge the death of his mother and who is called upon to embrace his destiny in a final battle for the future of humanity.

After their Hall H panel presentation at Comic-Con, Henry Cavill and Tarsem Singh talked about the appeal of a project like this, what changed to make an almost non-existent script something that could be brought to life for the screen, what the overall tone will be, and why 3D worked for this. Cavill also talked about how he’s already put on 25 pounds in training for playing Superman in Man of Steel, how it’s both humbling and an honor to take on a role that he hopes he can do justice with, and how he’s chosen not to focus on the celebrity aspect of all the attention he’s now receiving. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

July 24 Henry Cavill and Tarsem Singh Talk ‘Immortals’ at Comic-Con

Sure, he was there to promote “Immortals” but Henry Cavill is the next Superman, and Comic-Con audiences are — to put it mildly — fans of Superman.

So when Cavill stepped onto the stage for a panel with his “Immortals” co-stars, producers and director on Saturday, the audience was hoping for a morsel of “Man of Steel” — as well as some “Immortals”

“Immortals” about the Greek warrior Theseus and the evil King Hyperion, drew massive interest at Comic-Con. In addition to Cavill, it has Frieda Pinto, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz and Mickey Rourke, and it’s directed by Tarsem Singh. continue reading

July 24 Henry Cavill Calls Filming Superman Reboot ‘Fantastic’

British actor Henry Cavill is already at work on the new Superman reboot, “Man of Steel,” but he took a quick break on Saturday at Comic-Con in San Diego, showing off a new look as he promoted his upcoming Greek gods and heroes drama, “Immortals.”

“Your hair’s a little darker,” Access Hollywood pointed out, noticing his Clark Kent-looking black-haired sheen, when Henry hit the “Immortals” press line.

“It is, yeah. Can’t imagine why,” the actor said with a sly smile.

While he was under orders to keep “Superman” related news to a minimum, Henry said working on the 2013-due project, directed by Zack Snyder, has been a dream come true.

“It’s fantastic. That’s all I can…” Henry trailed off. “It’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read.”

Henry confirmed filming has begun in Chicago.

“It’s going really well,” he noted.

July 26 Superman filming in West Chicago today!

According to lovely folks from Comic Book Movie:

“Autumn Frost” aka Zack Snyder’s Superman will be doing some filming around Dupage Airport!
I was driving by this weekend & noticed a few production trucks by the local grocery store. I was curious & decided to browse around West Chicago Site for clues to what movie would be filmed here in town. As I read thru the city counsil meetings I noticed “Autumn Frost” was brought up!

I will drive by the airport the next couple of days & look for clues to what they may be filming. I will keep you guys posted!!!

July 26 Cavill’s road to ‘Superman’ role

Stardom, as Henry Cavill knows, rarely happens in a single bound. Even when you’re the new Superman.

So while most people may not have heard of the 27-year-old British actor before he landed the lead in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, he’s hardly come out of nowhere.

In fact, he’s spent the past several years nearly getting — but ultimately been rejected for — such roles as James Bond (which Daniel Craig got), Batman (which went to Christian Bale) and, ironically enough, Superman (for 2006’s Superman Returns).

“You always feel a frustration when you don’t get a job, especially when you have no money, which was often the case in my career,” he says. “You try your best, everyone likes what you did, but you don’t get cast. It’s a very frustrating process to go through … I paid my dues, I’ve been through my baptism and I’ve been fortunate enough to be provided with the opportunities — and to be at the right time in my life — to play roles like this.”

Which explains why, when asked if he’s daunted by the prospect of stepping into the big red boots, he sounds anything but.

“(It’s) not scary. It’s fantastic — enjoyable. It’s an opportunity. It’s a chance to show what I’ve got, to enhance what I’ve got and entertain everyone and tell a good story.”

July 27 Henry Cavill: Focused On Superman, Not Superstardom

To borrow a phrase from a certain wall-crawling rival, Henry Cavill understands that with great power comes great responsibility.

The British actor, who is prepping to put on the most iconic cape in comic book history for director Zack Snyder’s “Superman” reboot, knows that the role is more than just a big career boost.

Since accepting the role of the world’s most famous superhero, Cavill has largely remained coy about any specific details surrounding Snyder’s take on the character – but he did tell PopcornBiz that he was committed more to the role of Kal-El/Clark Kent than to the fame that inevitably comes with it.

“I’m treating it like I would treat anything,” says Cavill. “I love reading historical fiction and fantasy books, and if I got chosen to play those roles, I have such a connection with those characters that I have an in-depth knowledge of how they would be made into a real person. The opportunity is the same with Superman. It’s absolutely fantastic because I’ve done all my reading and I’m really into the character.”

August 01 Another SDCC Interview

IAR had a chance to speak with Henry Cavill, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Stephen Dorff, Frieda Pinto, and Mickey Rourke, as well as producers Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari, and director Tarsem Singh after their panel on Saturday to discuss the upcoming film.

To watch what Tarsem Singh, Henry Cavill, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Stephen Dorff, Frieda Pinto, Mickey Rourke, Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari had to say about Immortals, please click on the video player below.

Immortals opens in theaters on November 11th.

August 03 Henry covers Total Film

Henry Cavill talks Man Of Steel and James Bond
Exclusive: “I’m very proud to be British and playing an iconic American superhero”

Total Film has spoken exclusively to Henry Cavill about his role as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel.

The in-demand Brit was keen to talk up the super-diet he’s consuming in his efforts to get the body of Krypton’s favourite son:

“I’m on 5000 calories a day… You’ve got to eat protein first, then a little bit of carbs…you’ve gotta keep your hunger levels going. I’m training two and a half hours a day, pushing my body beyond its normal limits, putting on a lot of muscle mass and just making myself look like Superman.”

Well, you’ve gotta be pretty buff before you can don an iconic superhero suit, right? On wearing his new threads, Cavill told us: “It’s extremely cool. There’s no other feeling like it.

“They just put it on, I turned around and look in the mirror and you can’t really play it cool – you sort of guffaw and laugh. I thought ‘OK, holy hell, this is real, it’s not a joke anymore. This is it…you’re doing it, you’re right in the middle of it.’”

While he couldn’t divulge any plot details (“not if I want to keep my job anyway!”), he confirmed that he’s focusing on “being as true as I can be to the original character and who the character is.”

Cavill also admitted that he’s chuffed to be another UK actor portraying an American superhero: “I’m very proud to be British and playing an iconic American superhero…it means I’m doing something right somewhere.”

He came close to landing the role of James Bond before Daniel Craig was cast; would he like another chance to slip into 007’s tux?

“That would be absolutely amazing. If they approached me on that I’d leap at the opportunity to do it. But that’s of course well away for the time being…”

Man Of Steel is set to open in Summer 2012.

Scans to be uploaded soon.

August 04 First Look At Henry Cavill As Superman

Do you want to see the suit? So, it’s here:

It won’t hit screens until 2013, but here’s your first sneak peek at Henry Cavill as the Man Of Steel, in Zack Snyder’s new take on Superman. It’s immediately apparent that the primary colours of the costume have been slightly toned down, and that this is one Kryptonian not afraid of getting his hands dirty. But some things don’t change; he’s clearly still capable of crumpling a bank vault up like a normal man crumples unwanted sheets of paper.

Finally my Laguna (Vendetta/Hotel Laguna) DVD has arrived and I was able to take screen captures of this movie. It’s not an easy DVD to find out, but it seems it’s the larger Henry role, he’s in every scene of this movie.

August 17 Man of Steel & The Pastor

One of the great things about a movie that films on location is that the residents simply never know when they and Hollywood will come together. Such was the case with Pastor Scott Hodge at the Orchard Community campus, who encountered Superman himself as Man of Steel was shooting.

I love those random, off-the-wall experiences that show up in our lives from time to time. Last week was one of these moments for us at The Orchard Community.

Here’s the story…

A few months ago, a location scout for Warner Brothers came by The Orchard to scope out our campus and explore the possibility of making it a short-term “base camp” for the cast and crew of the new Superman movie, “Man of Steel” that’s being filmed throughout the area this summer.

This would essentially mean renting our entire campus (building and parking lot) for about three full days where it would be used for the storage of the cast’s trailers, trucks, holding spaces for extras, rooms for the makeup and wardrobe departments, and space for the caterers to serve breakfast and lunch each day to a couple hundred cast and crew.

So after lots of consideration, conversation, contract reviews, etc…we gave them a thumb’s up….AND THEN worked really hard at keeping it all a secret (which wasn’t easy by the way!) until it was all said and done.

Well as many of you now know, last week was the week, and what a week it was! From Monday – Wednesday, our campus was flipped upside down by a couple hundred cast and crew working on the film that is slated to be released in June of 2013. And I gotta say, it was a ton of fun and a real pleasure to host what was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was kind of surreal too, seeing celebrities walking past my office window and down the hallways of The Orchard. WHO, SCOTT, WHO??! Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Zack Snyder (Director), and Superman himself – Henry Cavill. (Sorry ladies, no Russell Crowe sightings…)

Fun times…great memories…and some fun stories to tell.

August 19 “Superman” plot official revealed

Warner Brothers is holding open casting calls in Nanaimo and Ucluelet on Vancouver Island for Zack Snyder‘s Superman film Man of Steel. Included on the extras casting notice is our first official look at the plot synopsis for the film.

‘In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.’

This pretty much confirms what we’ve heard from the begining: the story will follow Clark Kent in his personal journey to decide to become the Man of Steel.

August 20 First look of Superman on set

Filming in the Kent farmer are on full power, and today the Superman was spotted in full costume for a scene. Pictures was taken by Gregory Zonsius and published by Superman: Man of Steel facebook page.

We can’t see the actor’s face, since a black cloth was in front of his face the whole time, but Gregory thinks it’s Henry, since there’s a mic toward him. But you can take a briefly vision of the costume.

August 26 Immortals & Man of Steel: Empire magazine scans

I told you yesterday, on Twitter (btw, if you’re not following our Twitter account, do it now!) that Immortals are featured on October issue of Empire magazine. Well, that’s what the cover was telling us. It actually is featured, but it’s a small note on some upcoming movies. But to make the issue worth, they also have a two-page spread on Superman. Now that things are better, you can check scans up already in our gallery, thanks to my friend @RobJacko who take his time to scan it for us.

August 26 Video of Henry on set of Man of Steel

Thanks, once again, to Man of Steel Facebook Page we have a new video of Henry arriving on set today. Well, at least now people can stop talking he’s not tall enough to be the Superman, right? 😀
Click on image to be directed to the video (since it can’t be embed here). Thanks Andy for recording it!

The fans that was on set today was able to take a few pictures of Henry shooting some scenes dressed as Clark Kent. Thanks Deanna and Tina!

September 02 Immortals: a must-see of the Autumn Hollywood season.

In just two feature films – following a slew of music videos such as “Losing My Religion” – Tarsem Singh has proven himself as one of a handful of true visionary directors working in the system today. He comes at the material as an artist, not as a commercial work-for-hire, and even on what should be a simple police procedural, 2000’s The Cell, he infused a vision of a startling, richly drawn and emotionally harrowing inner-world of a criminal mind. Now, as his follow-up to the underrated The Fall, he goes back to Hollywood with a for-hire project, Immortals, and takes what could be another hack film about Mythological Green Gods and figures, i.e. Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, Hyperon, etc, and makes something truly bold. It’s an original story with all of these characters, concerning possession of a sacred and magical bow that could destroy all of Greece (nay, the world), and how the humans interact with Gods and what happens when one of them (Theseus, played by soon-to-be Superman Henry Cavill) makes that ascenscion from mortal to the status of the title. continue reading

October 09 Superman on set in Canada

Man of Steel is currently shooting on location in Vancouver, and we was able to find out pictures of Henry dressed as Clark Kent, but not was we used to see him. Instead that, Cavill was sporting a scraggly beard to go with his damp sweatshirt and fur-lined coat. Check 18 pictures from last October 05 in our gallery:

October 14 Henry On Set at British Columbia for ‘Man of Steel’

A whole slew of photos have hit the web showing Henry wandering around shirtless on the set that is supposed to be an Alaskan fishing village. Pictures was first shown at Craven Online:

Got a sweet treat in the mail just now. CraveOnline reader Lorraine Louie was on the set of Man of Steel in British Columbia and just snagged these sweet pecs… er, “pics,” of Henry Cavill bearded and shirtless. (Lorraine Louie? L.L.? Curious…) There’s not much information about the actual movie to be gleaned from this, apart from the fact that eventually Superman’s going to need a shave. (How’s he going to do that, exactly? Does Gillette offer kryptonite refill packs?) Oh, and a change of pants… which apparently he already has.

Lorraine also pointed out that this particular Superman has a nice set of chest pubes. That’s a big change from the main you brought you the rippling, waxed muscles of 300, isn’t it? Nice Mediterranean look you got going there, Kal-El. Does Krypton have a Mediterranean?

Now everyone who told his costume was padded, show yourself! 😀

October 26 New ‘Immortals’ clip

We’ve been bombarded with new Immortals goodies. Not complaining, it’s good to keep us busy until we’re desperate for next 11.11.11 coming.

A new clip has surfaced for the upcoming Immortals in which Theseus comes face to face with King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke). As you’d expect, it’s not an especially pleasant encounter. Check it:

October 28 “Man of Steel” On Set

And yet more pictures of Henry on set for Man of Steel, yesterday, was surfaced. I added 44 HQ pictures of him looking delicious while filming a scene involving a huge smokey fire pit on the set. Also there’s some different pictures from the green set (which was pointed done yesterday, also) and another ones that I can’t figure what he’s doing. 😛 Enjoy!

October 31 ‘Man Of Steel’ Star Henry Cavill Grateful For ‘Support’

For the “Superman” fans out there, it’s safe to say that by now, you’ve probably seen and overanalyzed “Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill looking all ripped and rugged in the leaked photos from the film’s set.
For the most part — nitpicky casting and director complaints notwithstanding — the collective judgment that has come down via various fan sites was: “Cavill looks awesome.” And no one was more relieved to hear and see those reactions than the hard-working actor in question.

When MTV News caught up with Cavill recently as he promoted his upcoming sword-and-sandals flick “Immortals,” we asked for his thoughts about the constant attention paid to him and the production, as well as his reaction to the leaked photos.

“I think the best part has been recently when people have sort of seen all the work that has gone into it,” Cavill said, speaking to his physical transformation. “I think I won a lot of people over, and I felt the support really come behind me, which is a really good feeling, because when you’re doing this all for [the fans], telling a story for them … you want to do it justice,” he said, adding that on the particular day when the shirtless photos were snapped, he was fighting very chilly temperatures and 80 mph winds from a helicopter hovering above him.
“It’s wonderful to have all the people online going, ‘This is great, this is amazing, I can’t wait, thank goodness it’s him.’ It’s wonderful, so thank you to everyone out there,” he said, speaking to camera. “I do appreciate it.”

You’re welcome, Henry.

October 31 Henry Talks about Men of Steel costume

As you can see, today the press work for Immortals has officially began. Luke posted on his twitter that they broke the mark of 80 interviews. In one day.

Check one bit here:

The first time I had it all on with the cape, I deliberately didn’t look in the mirror as it was going on because I wanted to have that sorta turnaround moment. Probably one of the best moments of my life to turn around and realize [small pause] that I’m Superman.

October 31 Henry Cavill Talks Getting Ripped For ‘Immortals’ & ‘Man Of Steel’

Some actors might get a little help from the costume department when portraying a hero on the big screen, but British actor Henry Cavill, star of “Immortals” and the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed “Man of Steel,” pushed his body to the max to get a hero-worthy physique.

“We did a lot of training. I was training for six months. I started before I finished ‘The Tudors,’” Henry told Access Hollywood at the junket for his latest movie “Immortals.”

“I was up at four in the morning, doing a couple of hours there and then a day’s work. But as soon as I got off ‘The Tudors,’ then we could do the full training. It went up to about eight hours a day by the time it was February,” he continued.

The 28-year-old actor said he endured “hundreds of bruises and cuts” while shooting the adventure film set in the world of Greek gods. continue reading

October 31 Henry Cavill tells us why you don’t need to be American to play Superman

Man of Steel star Henry Cavill refused to reveal any Superman secrets at the press day for his Greek gods epic Immortals. But the British actor did eloquently explain why his nationality doesn’t stop him from playing an all-American superhero.

Cavill was mainly there to talk about his upcoming turn as the Greek hero Theseus – and we’ll have more on Immortals in a little bit – but he did address one or two Superman-related issues. Most importantly, Cavill was asked whether a Brit can really play a character who is so resolutely American. Cavill argued that it doesn’t matter, drawing a parallel to Superman’s own Kryptonian origins:

It is an iconic American role… well, he’s an American icon. Whether it’s an American role or not, I can’t be sure. Superman is a universal image, and what he stands for is very universal. He was certainly raised in America, but he in himself is not necessarily American, because he comes from somewhere very far away and very different, and he is very different. And therefore all the more beautiful when he tries to do so much for all of us who are so different from him.

October 31 How ‘Immortals’ Prepped Henry Cavill For His Role as Superman

Henry Cavill and Luke Evans discuss their roles as some of the most well-known and beloved characters of both ancient and contemporary mythology, in films like Superman and ‘The Hobbit’.

Henry Cavill has gone through intense physical training for his role as the man-in-blue in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, Man of Steel.

This Superman, by all accounts, not only carries the extraordinary gifts of his predecessors but is also one of raw, physical, brute strength and power. At the Los Angeles press event for director Tarsem Singh’s upcoming fantasy-adventure, Immortals, Cavill about how his experience with what the cast jokingly referred to as the “Immortals diet” and workout regime mentally prepared him for the rigorous work he would endure for Superman.

“Any experience on an acting job is good experience because you can take it to the next [job]. The physical experience (on “Immortals”) was obviously wonderful because it’s prepped me for this (“Superman”) physical experience. I’ve learned that when you go to this kind of level, it’s no longer about the physical, it’s more about the mental. It’s about the will power to push yourself into that very dark place. You’re standing next to the precipice, and you’ve got that weight on your shoulders, and you’re only halfway through the workout and you need to push yourself off and just go into that big f**k-off black hole and keep on pushing. “Immortals” prepped me for that emotionally and mentally…in the physical sense, if that makes sense. So, I’m very grateful for that.”

November 08 Crowe Gave Young Cavill Career Advice

Henry Cavill’s career has finally come full circle – exactly 11 years after first receiving acting advice from veteran Russell Crowe, the two are to star as father and son in the new Superman film.

A teenage Cavill was attending boarding school in England when Crowe arrived on location to shoot the movie Proof of Life. The aspiring British actor received a walk-on role as an extra in the film and, after completing his scene, he spoke with the Gladiator star about life in the spotlight.

“I had been doing school plays and stuff and so I walked up to Russell and I asked him, you know, ‘What’s it like to be an actor?’ And he said, ‘Well you know it’s great. Sometimes they treat you great, sometimes they don’t. And the money’s pretty good too.’ And then everyone came running up and I waved, and I said, ‘Quick, run!’ Because they were all looking for autographs.

“And two days later I got a signed picture of him in Gladiator saying, ‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’ At the end of that journey of a thousand miles, that first journey, he’s there as well.”

November 09 Henry Cavill Talks IMMORTALS and MAN OF STEEL

With director Tarsem Singh’s new film Immortals opening this weekend, Collider will be overrun with exclusive interviews with the filmmakers and cast over the next few days. For those not familiar with Immortals (watch the trailer and clips), the film centers on Theseus (Henry Cavill), a mortal who teams up with the Greek gods in order to defeat the power-hungry King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke). The film also stars Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas, Joseph Morgan, Kellan Lutz, and Stephen Dorff.

Anyway, earlier today I got on the phone with Henry Cavill for an exclusive interview. We talked about how he got involved in Immortals, the training, working with Tarsem and Mickey Rourke, the practical sets, his reaction to seeing the finished film, and what it was like to promote the film at WonderCon and Comic-Con. In addition, since Cavill is currently filming Man of Steel for director Zack Snyder, he talked about what has surprised him about the production, his interaction with producer Christopher Nolan, his reaction to getting cast as Superman, how he prepared for the role, and whether he ever dressed up as Superman as a kid.

November 10 Henry Cavill was raised to fly

In “Immortals,” the hyper-stylized Greek mythology movie that opens this weekend, Henry Cavill plays brave Theseus, a man who is told by gods and oracles that he has a date with destiny. Cavill can relate, in a way, because a little more than a decade ago, while he was still at a boarding school in Buckinghamshire, England, Cavill shook hands with the future.

The campus of Stowe School was being used as a backdrop for the kidnap thriller “Proof of Life,” and between shots, star Russell Crowe was amusing himself by booting a rugby ball through the posts as dozens of boys at a safe distance watched with wide-eyed fascination and a bit of fear. Cavill was in the crowd and decided that they looked foolish, so he marched up to the movie star and introduced himself. continue reading

November 11 Superman Henry Cavill is among the ‘Immortals’

Henry Cavill knows about overnight heroes.

In Immortals, opening today, he plays an overlooked peasant propelled to lead an army into battle against a sadistic king. But before Cavill could even step into the role’s leather sandals, the untested actor had to convince director Tarsem Singh that he, too, had the right stuff.

Going into their first meeting, “I was an unknown. But I wanted it badly,” Cavill says. “Tarsem saw the passion. And if you’ve got nothing else, passion will get you through.” continue reading

November 11 “Justice League” movie news

Thanks to folks from Cosmic Book News, we have some interesting news regarding a future Justice League movie.

It seems WB wants Christopher Nolan and wife, Emma Thomas, to be involved in the film in some capacity, most likely as producers. Don’t expect Christian Bale as Batman; it will be a new actor in the role. However, Henry Cavill and Ryan Reynolds could appear as their respective characters, Superman and Green Lantern — but it is too early to tell.

Warner wants another Superman movie released before Justice League, however, don’t expect that story to be compromised for Justice League, as the next Superman film will still be treated as a stand alone film.

Plans are being put together for Justice League movie for either a 2015 or 2016 release.

November 11 Cavill strikes with ‘Immortals,’ ‘Man of Steel’

Looking past Henry Cavill’s infinitely blue eyes and goofy grin, it’s not difficult to imagine the 28-year-old British actor transforming into an extremely intense dude as he describes the roughest day he experienced on the “Immortals” set — grasping the complex choreography for the film’s epic final battle.

“I was literally learning it minutes before doing it,” said Cavill during a recent interview to promote the mythological 3-D action flick. “That was fun and a great challenge, but I’m a bit of a perfectionist, and I get pissed off at myself if I don’t get it exactly right.” continue reading

November 13 More box-office news for Immortals

Immortals at #1 knocks Puss off its mountain with $32m opening

Immortals hit the box office this weekend and performed higher than originally expected grossing $32m. These aren’t titan earnings. The are rather good in this economy, but thoughts are with expecting higher grosses on a holiday weekend. Immortals opened Friday at approximately 900 locations offering midnight showings in 3D earning $1.4m. As Immortals expanded to over 3000 multiplexes nationwide, its final weekend performance came in down $4m from the revised weekend pace. 3D ticket sales, offered at a higher price point, did not bring in substantial revenue as compared to its 2D counterpart. Fanboy support for the genre and the actor(s) has been awarded credit with helping to make Immortals reach the numbers it did. [Read More]

December 22 ‘Henry Cavill is very Kermitty!’

Amy Adams did an interview to current issue of “Total Film”, out today, about Men of Steel. As she’s recently been working with both Kermit and Superman, the magazine decided to ask how they compare as leading men?

Henry Cavill is very Kermitty! There is a humility to Henry and that’s one of the reasons his Superman is going to be so compelling. He has this beautiful face and humble spirit and that’s really a hard combination to come upon.

That was cute!

December 23 ‘Man of Steel’ trailer to debut in six months!

Warner Bros. will reveal the first trailer and new images this June to prepare for Superman’s highly anticipated return to the big-screen. Warner Bros. will begin promoting its Zack Snyder-directed Superman reboot ‘Man of Steel’ a whole year before it’s 2013 release date. The studio had a similar strategy for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. The teaser trailer for that film debuted July 18, 2011, almost a year to the day of its July 20, 2012 scheduled release date. The ‘Man of Steel’ teaser trailer is set to debut on or before June 11th with official movie stills to appear in movie magazines and online before that date. (MovieNewz)

February 06 Leaked Superman: Man of Steel Poster! (?)

An anonymous source has leaked an image of what appears to be a promotional poster for the upcoming Superman readaptation, Man of Steel.

The original photo, left, was obtained by MovieWeb.

Thanks to an anonymous scooper, we’ve gotten our hands on one of the first posters from next year’s DC Comics reboot Superman: Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill as mild mannered reporter, Clark Kent. In this one-sheet, the first we’ve seen of it’s kind, Superman faces off against an army of Helicopters, a shadowy Zod (Michael Shannon) and what looks to be a robot, of which we’ve heard little about. This is by no means an official poster that we can verify, and may not even find its way into a theater, but it’s clearly real, and could be one of many.

Man of Steel, which is directed by Zack Snyder, and stars Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, and Russell Crowe, flies into theaters June 14, 2013.

February 11 Henry looking to join period epic The Great Wall

Henry Cavill is still working hard as the eponymous man of steel in Zack Snyder’s new Superman film, but the Brit star must be enjoying a little downtime, because he’s eying his next project, period epic The Great Wall.

Edward Zwick, of The Last Samurai, is already in place as director, having written the screenplay with Marshall Herskovitz. It’s based on a story by World War Z scribes Max Brooks and Thomas Tull.

Plot details are light, but Variety report that the film will look into the mystery behind how China’s Great Wall was built in the 5th Century BC.

No word yet on who Cavill would play, though we assume he’ll get to fling a few fists in the process. With Zwick behind the camera we should definitely expect some action, not to mention beautiful period furnishings.

Cavill may still be pumping iron as Superman, but we won’t get to see the finished film until Man Of Steel opens on 14 June 2013.

February 11 Michael Shannon: ‘Henry Cavill is a fantastic Superman’

Michael Shannon has praised Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Superman in Man of Steel.

The Oscar-nominated star, who recently revealed that he is not a big fan of the Superman comic books, insisted that Cavill brings an “edge” to the role of the Kryptonian superhero.

“Henry is a fantastic Superman, he’s got a little edge to him and he’s smart, clever and I had fun working with him,” Shannon told The Playlist.

March 02 Tarsen: “Henry is the best Superman you could have”

Tarsem has described his Immortals star Henry Cavill as the “perfect” choice to play Superman.

British actor Cavill was cast in Zack Snyder’s superhero reboot Man of Steel after playing Theseus in the 3D fantasy epic, which is released on Blu-ray and DVD this week.

“I think he’s about the best Superman you could ever have. When I first saw him – this was before I knew he [auditioned] for Superman, because the last Superman had been made a year and a half before Immortals and tanked – I said, ‘This is Clark Kent!'”

“He’s very gentle, manly, just everything was perfect for it. He was so excited when he got it but I didn’t doubt for a second that he wouldn’t get it. Snyder would be lind not to see how right he was for [the role].”

April 15 New Superman To Be Edgy

There is little over a year before the latest superman movie Man of Steel is due to hit the box offices around the globe, Dylan Sprayberry who plays a teenage Clark Kent has been interviewed about the experience and it seem that Man of Steel will be a lot “darker” than previous versions of the comic book superhero.

“When Zack (Snyder) and I were talking about it the first time, he was saying how Superman, they want to give it a more edgy feel like The Dark Knight but also make it more realistic and emotional so it’s not just the all-american superhero that saves everyone. He has dilemmas and love and struggles throughout the whole movie, especially when he’s a kid.”

And on participating in the movie,

“It was really great. I didn’t even really notice how big it was until I finished shooting. It was so overwhelming that it was crazy, I was like “I can’t believe I just did all that.” In the moment, I was really focused on the work and the acting.”

Along with Henry Cavill who is playing the man of steel himself the movie also stars a couple of Hollywood’s heavyweights Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe as well as Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Julia Ormond and Michael Shannon and is directed by Zack Snyder and is due to hit theatres middle of June 2013.

April 22 Henry Thanks Crew with Commemorative Coin

Mark Twight, the lead fitness trainer on Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel, received this very cool commemorative coin from actor Henry Cavill to “remember the satisfyingly hard work and good times.” Here’s his statement to the crew:

“Thank you so much for all of your hard work over such a long shoot. During shooting I discovered that the US military have a series of coins to commemorate each department and individual force within the military so I thought, considering the epic journey we all went through on such an iconic project, it only fair that we have our own coin too! This is just a little souvenir to keep and remember the satisfyingly hard work and the good times from start to finish – Henry Cavill”

Twight’s wife shared a photo of the coin with her followers on Twitter.

May 11 There’s more to the next ‘Superman’ than great looks

Things are pretty quiet on Henryland this days, so I think you’d like to read this article. Enjoy:

DOES Henry Cavill have what it takes to wear the Man of Steel’s cape in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, “Man of Steel”? If you didn’t see Tarsem Singh’s “Immortals” last year, “The Cold Light of Day” (showing this week), the actioner Cavill topbills with Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver, has the answer—and it’s a positive one.

We’re talking about the hunky actor’s performance, not the movie, which follows the misadventures of Will (Cavill), a Wall Street trader who finds himself running all over Madrid after his family is kidnapped during a sailing trip in Spain.

In the incoherent course of the darkly photographed movie, the distraught Will learns that his father (Willis) not only has a second family in the Spanish capital, but is also revealed to be a rogue CIA operative who has possession of a contentious briefcase that contains important documents—though the movie never divulges what they are.

The action-thriller meanders all the way into its perfunctory finale—but, at least Cavill demonstrates that there’s more to him than his good looks. His acting choices are consistently spot-on, from beginning to end.

This bodes well for the upcoming big-screen “rebirth” of the DC universe’s Mightiest Superhero, which comes in the heels of the disappointing “Green Lantern.” Of course, Batman’s “Dark Knight” trilogy is in a class all its own, because the brilliant Christopher Nolan is behind it.

May 31 “Man of Steel” in San Diego Comic-Con?

The UNNOFICIAL blog for San Diego Comic-Con did a post today about some movies that may be appearing at this year’s SDCC.

Though some movie studios have decreased their presence at the con after big SDCC hits resulted in tiny box office bumps, Comic-Con remains one of the biggest places to show off upcoming movies, especially those of the sci-fi and fantasy variety. Below we have a list of 20 possible flicks for SDCC 2012, along with a percentage of the chance they’ll be in attendance and some information about each. Even though they’re only (researched and well-judged) guesses, it should be more than enough to get any movie buff excited for this year’s con.

Man of Steel – 60% – Zack Snyder’s kept this one pretty close to the chest but as long as he has some effects-ready footage to show, expect him to make a pretty big event out of it.

So, what do you think? We’ll have a big show up at San Diego this year?

June 04 “The Great Wall” Casting Info

So, finally some updates regarding “The Great Wall”. It seems the co-lead it’s between Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood) and Benjamin Walker (Abrahan Lincoln, the Vampire Hunter).

The Great Wall is an adventure film about British warriors traveling through 15th Century China and happen upon the hurried construction of the massive wall. As night falls, the warriors realize that the haste in building the wall isn’t just to keep out the Mongols. There is something inhuman and more dangerous. The picture, based on an idea by Legendary CEO Thomas Tull and Max Brooks, is being made through the Hong Kong-based Legendary East.

So exciting!

June 06 Warner Bros hires writer for ‘Justice League’

Well, now that “The Avengers” it’s up and became this huge success, it’s everyone waiting for a “Justice League” movie. With everyone pressuring DC Comics to do it, they decide to take some action.

Variety is reporting that Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall will produce a script for the superhero ensemble film. A Justice League project was last put into production in 2007 with director George Miller attached to helm. However, it was later scrapped.

Henry is Superman, and Christian Bale is Batman, but he already told the Dark Knight Rises would be his last one on Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise. However he wouldn’t be opposed to reprising the role again, if the scripts were good enough. But, it is unknown if the project will tie into previous and forthcoming DC adaptations or be completely standalone – which makes no sense to me, but we never know what Hollywood is up to, right?

June 07 “Man of Steel” New Promo Image

Someone named as “a friend” sent to Collider a new promotional poster for “Man of Steel”, with the “S” logo only but still…

This release makes me really excited… do you remember I posted last year a note regarding a MoS teaser trailer? I don’t know if it’s legit or not, but we’re in June. So, it that note was legit, a teaser trailer may be coming around.

June 10 “The Great Wall” Production Postponed

While Legendary Pictures just set Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter star Benjamin Walker on Friday to join Man of Steel‘s Henry Cavill in the Ed Zwick-directed The Great Wall, a decision has just been made to push from a fall start date until next spring.

Rumors have been racing this weekend that The Great Wall might be crumbling but I’m told that is not the case. In fact, casting on the film continues with Zhang Ziyi and other Chinese talent is also being courted for the film.

The issue is weather. The film will shoot in locations in China and New Zealand, and logistically it will be easier to do this in the spring than if the picture keeps its fall start date. Insiders tell me the film will happen, even though a domestic distributor hasn’t yet been secured. It is meant to be the first major film to kick off Legendary East, and with every studio looking for opportunities to make films in China, the project certainly seems viable.

Set in 15th century China, The Great Wall is about British warriors who happen upon the hurried construction of the massive wall. As night falls, the warriors realize that the haste in building the wall isn’t just to keep out the Mongols — there is something inhuman and more dangerous. The picture is based on an idea by Legendary CEO Thomas Tull and Max Brooks.

Now, Legendary postponed the Alex Proyas epic Paradise Lost before eventually scrapping the picture over budget, but I’m persuaded the intention is to make The Great Wall happen.

June 24 Kryptonian War Will Be Featured In ‘Man Of Steel’

With still a year of waiting, we cannot go more excited about “Man of Steel”, can we? Warner Bros. already redirected the official site url to their official facebook page – so we’re assuming they’re doing some background work on the official site – and spoilers are popping out & about and Science and Fiction posted a few, which will be under the cut so if you don’t want to know, stop reading now!

June 30 Comic-Con 2012: Official Saturday Schedule

The schedule for July 14 is up!

2:30-5:00 Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Preview Their Upcoming Lineups—

Legendary Pictures: Pacific Rim-From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ epic sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim. When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes — a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse. Pacific Rim also stars Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, and Charlie Day.

Warner Bros. Pictures: Man Of Steel

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey-From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). Jackson returns to Middle-earth in an adventure that begins 60 years before the events depicted in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The first of two films adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien’s enduringly popular masterpiece, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey follows titular Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who-along with the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and a band of 13 Dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage)-is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. The film’s ensemble cast includes Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lily, and Andy Serkis as Gollum.

It makes me nervous that has no panelists announced for Man of Steel.

July 09 ‘Man Of Steel’ Will Be In IMAX 3D

The last two times director Zack Snyder walked into San Diego Comic-Con, he brought the house down with impressive presentations for 300 and Watchmen. Saturday, he returns with the Warner Bros. Superman reboot Man of Steel, a film we’ve yet to see anything official for save for one still image and a logo. Expectations are high that we’ll get to see a bunch of footage and learn some major things about the film however, it seems like Warner Bros. has already started to let the information get out.

An update to the official IMAX site reveals the fairly obvious news that Man of Steel will be in 3D and IMAX. They also have a new plot description.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question ‘Why am I here?’ Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

The IMAX release of Man of Steel will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

Man of Steel will open in IMAX 3D on June 14, 2013. Are you ready?

July 12 Henry Cavill to Make Surprise Appearance at WB Panel

Superman is coming to Comic-Con.

Henry Cavill, the actor who is portraying the DC superhero in Warner Bros’ Man of Steel, will make an appearance at the studio’s Saturday Hall H panel, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Whether Cavill would show up has been rumored but not confirmed. When the Comic-Con schedule was first officially revealed in late June, the only thing written about the Man of Steel panel were the words “Man of Steel.”

Yesterday, Warners sent out a press release elaborating details of the participants of its panels for The Hobbit (Ian McKellan, who plays Gandalf, is one of those attending) and Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi monster epic for Legendary.

But for Man of Steel, the studio said only that director Zack Snyder would be on hand and that footage would be shown; no one else was mentioned.

Other actors from the movie, such as Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe, are not expected to attend.

The “Man of Steel” trailer – the one attached at The Dark Knight Rises – will also be shown at Comic-Con.

July 14 “Man of Steel” Comic-Con Poster

The panel for Man of Steel has just ended, and folks over ComingSoon did a live blog with details from the teaser preview.

Shooting is finished and movie is in post-production. Zach said that, in the past, Superman has been a big blue boy scout on throne, he wants to make it so he can beat the s–t out of people. It’s also confirmed that a trailer is attached with The Dark Knight Rises so be sure to take your sit in time to watch it!

There’s a single flash of Amy Adams on the teaser trailer, and it has a lot of back and forth on time periods, from Clark as child and on costume. Zod isn’t also confirmed as the big villain.

Henry told he loved “The Death of Superman” and “Red Son” comic arc, it was the first ones he used for research.

First impressions of teaser trailer – based on Twitter and Facebook postage during the panel – was pretty good. Can’t wait to see it!

August 30 “The Cold Light of Day”: Henry Interview

The site Flicks & Bits has an interview done with Henry, not sure when done but published this week. Check it:

In 24 hours Will Shaw’s family will be dead. Armed with a gun, but no information, distraught, confused and alone in an unfamiliar city, Will (Henry Cavill) is forced to piece together the puzzle of his missing family. Unwittingly embroiled in a Government conspiracy with agents from all sides hot on his tail, an unrelenting chase across the streets of Madrid intensifies and Will is forced to question everything he has ever known in order to stay alive long enough to rescue his family… but is there anyone left he can trust? Starring Henry Cavill (Immortals, Man of Steel) alongside Hollywood action legends Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver, ‘The Cold Light of Day’ is an adrenaline fuelled action thriller from director Mabrouk El Mechri. The film is released September 7th in the US, while it sees its Blu-Ray and DVD release in the UK on September 10th.

You filmed ‘The Cold Light of Day’ just after ‘Immortals,’ a film you trained extensively for to get your characters physique and fighting abilities on point. With this, you’re playing an average man, with no particular skills. What was the experience like preparing for this role?

Henry Cavill: The preparation for this role was different, indeed (laughs). I came off ‘Immortals’ where I had to be super fit, and sort of the killer of men. This one was quite the opposite because I was told that I wasn’t allowed to do a single push-up or sit-up, I had to eat and drink as much as possible and be as average and normal as I possibly could be – within the short space of preparation time given, because ‘The Cold Light of Day’ was literally filmed off the back of ‘Immortals.’ The idea of the preparation was: be less competent and walk with less balance. For example, in a high stress situation, Theseus was very much someone who would react perfectly. In ‘The Cold Light of Day,’ Will doesn’t act that way at all (laughs). He runs or he fires blindly and tries to survive. The preparation was different. It was difficult to do prep for that. You kind of have to just feel it in the moment and run with it. But the most difficult thing was I suppose getting out of shape, it was trying to be as out of shape as possible so that it’s more believable in the story. continue reading

September 07 Henry Cavill is “The Real Deal”

When “Man of Steel” hits theaters next June, you’ll believe a man can fly, and that’s all thanks to the convincing work of leading man Henry Cavill.

Speaking with MTV News at the red carpet premiere of “Boardwalk Empire” this week, “Man of Steel” actor Michael Shannon — who plays the villain in the Zack Snyder-directed action film — expressed his admiration for Cavill’s work ethic and his amazing transformation into the Last Son of Krypton.

“I always felt like I was in a scene with Superman,” Shannon said of Cavill’s performance. “I never looked at him and thought that’s just somebody trying to be Superman — he felt like the real deal. I really admire Henry’s work ethic. I really haven’t seen anybody in this business work quite that hard. Obviously it’s a tremendous responsibility, and an intimidating one, to wear that suit. But he had the confidence and the work ethic to accomplish it.”

September 12 Amy Adams: “I hope you guys love Cavill as Superman”

Collider published an interview with Amy Adams about her most recent movie “The Master”, and of course a few “Man of Steel” related questions was asked. Check it:

How was the experience of playing Lois Lane this summer?

Adams: It was great. It was really good. Henry [Cavill] – I hope you guys love him as Superman – worked so hard. He is just yummy and really committed to the role. He really did a good job. I haven’t seen the final cut and I have only seen a couple of the teasers. So I am with you guys. I know it because I was there but there was so much that I wasn’t involved in that I can’t wait to see.

Is there going to be humor in your interpretation of Lois Lane? We’ve seen the humorous Lois Lane in some movies and TV shows and other times she is more serious and very competitive with Clark Kent.

Adams: No, I think she is a little more…we will have to see. I don’t know. I mean, she is definitely a pistol still and she definitely gets herself in a lot of trouble still. But she is not as competitive, I would say, with Clark.

September 24 Ed Zwick Exits ‘The Great Wall’

Bad news? The Playlist is reporting “The Great Wall” did lost its director.

In the works for a while now, the first production by Legendary East has been operating under something of a veil of secrecy. What we do know thus far: Superman and Abraham Lincoln (Henry Cavill and Benjamin Walker) are in the leads of pic, with Zhang Ziyi joining them, in a script penned by Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz which is based off a story, dreamed up by Legendary honcho Thomas Tull and “World War Z” author Max Brooks, that centers on two 15th century British warriors who stumble across the wall mid-construction, but soon realize that it’s not just being built to keep out the Mongols, but something else entirely. Production was slated to begin this year, but was pushed to next spring due to weather and incomplete financing.

November 20 New trailer coming ahead of “The Hobbit”

How would you like to see a little more “Man of Steel” before heading to Middle Earth with “The Hobbit” next month? Warner Bros. is adding an extra treat to the highly anticipated release of Peter Jackson’s latest film via a brand-new trailer for the Zack Snyder flick, delivered in both 2-D and 3-D.

“It’s fun. I can’t wait for ‘The Hobbit,’ so it will be fun to see our crazy ‘Man of Steel’ trailer and then enjoy the Hobbit because that’s going to be great,” Snyder told MTV News. “It just feels like a fun Christmas thing to do, drag the whole family out for that action.”

Snyder is embracing the holiday spirit ahead of schedule, via the fanfare surrounding the recent release of the “Watchmen Collector’s Edition” along with the heroic efforts of “Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill and chief villain Michael Shannon.

“Shannon is great, he has such great enthusiasm and dedication constantly,” Snyder said of the “Take Shelter” actor fully embracing Zod. “You can imagine that you could get actors who go, ‘Oh right, it’s Zod, it’s not 100 percent serious,’ or [you can play it] slightly with a wink, there is none of that with him. His effort is to make it realized and to understand this character and what he has to go through, so you have that on one side and you have Henry, who basically is Superman, on the other side and that dynamic.”

Snyder went on to say that he is incredibly thankful that Cavill and Shannon were onboard with the idea of making their iconic comic book characters as real as possible.

“I was just incredibly fortunate to play with those guys who really were giving all they had to bring a level of commitment to the scenes they have together so that audiences will get an opportunity to really have their heroes taken seriously,” he said. “As serious as I was taking it, and I don’t mean that from a depressing kind of way but from a, ‘This is important and fun and needs to be given the respect that it deserves,’ from that perspective it was so exciting to watch them drink the Kool-Aid of that concept and go all the way.”

And in nearing the home stretch in completing the film ahead of its June 14 release, Snyder seems more than content with his post-production progress.

“I’m super psyched. It’s really fun,” he said of his continued enthusiasm for “Man of Steel.” “I have no superhero fatigue.”

November 25 ‘Steel’ this movie

Superman and his new director dish on next summer’s reinvention of the world’s first comic-book superhero

The final version is a brief-free, all-blue unitard with red boots and a red cape.

“If you look at the costume, it’s very modern, but the relationship to the original costume is strong,” Snyder says.

“You come onto a project like this, and you hear about modernization and you hear about bringing things forward to today, and all you can do is hope that it’s going to look cool and different from

anything you’ve seen before,”

Cavill says of the suit, which takes him 15 to 25 minutes to put on. “And I’m pretty sure it does.”

To fill out the costume, Cavill worked out intensely for two hours each morning, and consumed as many as 5,000 calories a day.

“I have been put through the ringer big time,” Cavill says. “An example of the workouts we’ve been doing, it was 100 front squats of body weight. There are kettle-bell workouts. It’s very hard work.”

If “Man of Steel” pays off, it will have been worth it. The film is already saddled with gigantic expectations.

“I heard one time that the Superman glyph is the second or third most recognizable symbol on Earth after the Christian cross,” Snyder says. “It’s this crazy responsibility.”

The film will also be expected to launch a new franchise, which 2006’s lukewarmly received “Superman Returns” failed to do. Cavill confirms he is signed up for three films. Snyder is mum about directing more. continue reading

November 27 Hollywood Mavericks

Rumors of Hollywood’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. However, everything is upside down: The top-heavy old-guard studio dinosaurs bear the whiff of desperation, while the real power is bubbling up from below in the form of an inspired and mobilized creative class that’s more reliant on big ideas than big budgets. No one is who they seem: Writers are becoming directors, directors are becoming moguls, actors are becoming all of the above instead of lying around praying for a spin-off. And nothing is static: Partnerships want to be companies, companies want to be cultural movements, cultural movements want to fundamentally change the way we define entertainment. All this constructive chaos is being fueled by the fevered, risk-taking innovators who see tumult and transition as the time to pounce, to kick up dust rather than wait for it to settle. These bold thinkers have no time for sky-is-falling prognostication and no need for affirmation. They’re too busy working, building the future—because they know they have one.

The Outsourced Superhero
Superman-in-waiting Henry Cavill stands for truth, justice, and the not-actually-American way.

In the age of globalization, the Justice League looks more and more like the League of Nations. Consider: Today, Batman and Spider-Man are British; Thor and Wolverine are Australian; Green Hornet, Arrow, and Lantern are Canadian. The latest, and most conspicuous, to join the ranks of outsourced superheroes is Henry Cavill, the 29-year-old star of next summer’s Zack Snyder–directed Superman opus, Man of Steel—the quintessential American icon, now portrayed by a native of England’s quaint Channel Island of Jersey. Smallville it ain’t.

“I suppose it’s a fluke,” says Cavill, who lives in London. “It’s about who looks right for the character and for the generation it’s being cast for. If you only look at the American market, you’re narrowing down your options an awful lot. The point of acting is to pretend you’re someone else and sell a story. Chris Hemsworth is an Australian man, not a god from Asgaard. It would be even more fluke-y if every person who was playing a superhero was American.” continue reading

February 27 Joblo.com Exclusive: Early screenings scoop!

With its release four months away, the anticipation for Warner Bros. Superman reboot, MAN OF STEEL, has built momentum faster than a speeding bullet. The first two trailers teased us at the potential of a Superman film that would finally live up to the title of “MAN OF STEEL.” However, they’ve also been a bit dark and light on action, which has led some to believe we may see a retread of SUPERMAN RETURNS, rather than the smash-up superhero tale that the The Last Son of Krypton deserves. The darker tone has also suggested that Christopher Nolan may have injected too much “Dark Knight” influence over the film.

Well, according to our source, your fears may well finally be put to rest.

A scooper (whom we know and trust 100%) has sent us reactions to early screenings of the film happening at WB, addressing many of the common concerns that we’ve all had from the beginning. Here’s his bullet points from the screening(s):

– Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action.
– It’s the best movie of the year.
– There’s TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of ass in his suit.
– The cape is CG’d most of the time so it can look awesome.
– They have intentionally left out most of the the Super action in trailers to save it.
– It’s not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.
– The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place

So, to summarize…awesome! Now, it’s a bold claim to call it the “best movie of the year,” especially this early on, but everything else is golden. To me, having tons of action was the biggest requirement, because we haven’t really seen Big Blue do some serious damage since the 1970’s and that’s with some seriously antiquated effects. The CGI cape hasn’t really been a secret and we can see as much in the trailers already. Personally, I’m totally down with it and have no qualms.

The other thing brought up is the tone, which really sails on the dramatic in the latest trailer, suggesting that the film may be another THE DARK KNIGHT, but I’m happy to hear that it’s not a completely melancholy affair. However, he does suggest that it lives within the Nolan-verse, but with Zack Snyder’s signature style. And that’s just fine. If Snyder can do anything, it’s action with style, so no complaints here.

Naturally, this is one person’s opinion on the film, but it certainly paints a beautiful picture and assuages my own fears about having to sit through a two hour movie to watch Superman throw a rock into space and stalk his girlfriend. I look forward to hearing more information, naturally, and to get a broader scope of reactions, but this is a good development. Certainly, the new trailer, which is set to debut in April, will be telling and likely drive the excitement into the red. Fingers crossed for this one to pack a serious punch.

April 14 Man of Steel Trailer to debut on MTV Movie Awards

It looks like Henry will not be presenting an award, but he’ll be announcing the new Man of Steel trailer. No word yet on whether Henry will be attending the red carpet, but I’ll post pictures as soon as I have any!

MovieViral found this on the Taiwan WB Page:

Sometimes you just have to look in unexpected places for news. The official Warner Bros. Taiwan Facebook page has posted an image that roughly translates into “The exclusive Man of Steel trailer will air tonight on the MTV Movie Awards April 15, 2013 at 8:30PM.” This is the first time we’ve seen any confirmation of when the new trailer will debut. Since none of the other Warner Bros. pages seem to reference the announcement, I’m thinking this one slipped through the head honchos, which is good for us.

Edit: Word is Henry will NOT be presenting and his name on the list of presenters was a mistake.

May 30 Henry Cavill In Talks For ‘Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ Lead

Deadline reports a new possible movie for Henry. Awesome news!

Sources confirm that talks are in a very early stage with Henry Cavill to replace Tom Cruise as the lead in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Deadline’s Mike Fleming reported last week that Cruise was scheduled to star in the Warner Bros’ film with Armie Hammer, but he has exited to focus on producing and starring in Mission: Impossible 5. Guy Ritchie is directing the film that was inspired by the original TV series that ran from 1964-68, with Robert Vaughan and David McCallum playing Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, two agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement. Cavill stars in the Superman reboot Man Of Steel that’s slated to bow June 14 via Warner Bros. He is repped by CAA and United Agents.

June 05 Henry Cavill Confirms Role In THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.

Woot! Another project for Henry!

Henry Cavill (The Tudors, Man Of Steel) confirmed today with USA Today that he will indeed star opposite Armie Hammer in the upcoming film reboot of the popular television show The Man From U.N.C.L.E.. Now for many fans this is interesting news, as Hammer was once attached to play Batman in the now canned Justice League: Mortal. With the general audience seeing Cavill and Hammer on the big screen together, could this be a strategy to see how the general audience would react (women wouldn’t have a hard time)?

July 20 Comic-Con: Man of Steel Sequel Announced, Batman to Appear!

Warner Bros. has just revealed plans for their own DC Cinematic Universe with the announcement of a Man of Steel sequel that will feature none other than Batman! Snyder took the stage at the Warner Bros. panel to announce something and brought up actor Harry Lennix to read a special message.

“I want you to remember, Clark,” Lennix said, “in all the years to come. In all your private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember, the one man who beat you.”

And with that famous speech from The Dark Knight Returns, Snyder unveiled the logo below. No further details were announced but WB has revealed that Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will return along with the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill.

The official Statement is below the cut:

December 17 Critics Choice Awards Nomination

Hello everyone!

Henry Cavill has got a nomination for Best Actor in an Action Movie for the 19th Annual Critics Choice Awards for his role in Man of Steel.

The Critics Choice Awards winners will be announced on January 16th, 2014.

July 03 First look at Henry Cavill in Batman Vs. Superman

Here’s a first look at Henry from the Batman Vs. Superman movie, which is set for release in 2016 and an interview with the Directory Zach Snyder. Via USAToday.com:

001Who’s better, Superman or Batman? Zack Snyder doesn’t have to choose a favorite since he’s getting to put both on the big screen at the same time.

The director of last year’s Man of Steel doubles down on A-list superheroes in his follow-up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (in theaters May 6, 2016), teaming a returning Henry Cavill as the big guy in the cape and “S” on his chest with Ben Affleck as the latest cinematic incarnation of the Dark Knight.

By bringing in more DC Comics do-gooders such as Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), the new movie is thicker, denser and more epic than Man of Steel, according to Snyder. And it’s also the next step toward building a strong movie universe that ultimately leads to Snyder’s Justice League, the supergroup answer to Marvel’s The Avengers, tentatively scheduled for a 2018 release.

Now filming in Detroit, Dawn of Justice is pretty much a thrill every day for the admitted comic fan. “It’s not an un-fun job, I will say that,” Snyder says.

Man of Steel was all about Superman finding his place in the world as both a hero and as a man, ultimately saving the city of Metropolis from certain doom. Dawn of Justice continues to immerse him on Earth by working at the Daily Planet as Clark Kent along with Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and Perry White (Laurence Fishburne). But it also takes him to new environments such as Gotham City and introduces larger threats, including Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg).

Really digging in and evolving the character — both as Clark and as Superman — is a challenge, Snyder says, but there’s also “the fun of trying to figure out what to put in front of him that’s difficult.”

Cavill is definitely more comfortable in the role the second time around, says the director.

“We’ve both created this guy and we can push him around a little bit,” he says. “The more time I spend with Henry, the more he’s Superman to me.”

The debuting heroes Superman meets will affect his perspective on Earth and on the ones he loves, and Snyder feels his convictions will be drawn into question as well.

When developing Man of Steel, Snyder didn’t harbor dreams of one day putting Batman on screen, too — he figured he’d one day tackle an adaptation of Frank Miller’s seminal 1980s masterpiece The Dark Knight Returns, which pits a retired Batman against government agent Superman.

It ultimately made sense with Dawn of Justice to add Bruce Wayne and his cowled alter ego to the mix. Because of Christopher Nolan’s recent Dark Knight trilogy, “I was in no rush to put Batman in the movie,” Snyder says, “but on the other hand it seemed organic the way our story was unfolding to start to feather him in.”

Instead of using several movies to define Affleck’s Batman, Snyder felt the character’s 75-year mythology is so deep in culture now that they can just jump to an older, road-weary take on the Dark Knight. Plus, he says, “it’s cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys.”

The director can’t say exactly how the relationship between the two superheroes evolves, “but suffice it to say there is a ‘v’ in between their names” in the movie title, Snyder says. He explains that having the “v” instead of “vs.” is a way “to keep it from being a straight ‘versus’ movie, even in the most subtle way.”

Snyder’s only done a few scenes so far with Cavill and Affleck together, but the historical significance isn’t lost on him, he says. “It’s never really been done and it’s kinda cool.”

Similarly, Snyder also knows that putting the iconic superheroine Wonder Woman on a movie screen is a big deal, too. He says he hasn’t filmed any scenes with Gadot as the Amazonian princess yet, but “she’s working out and getting buff and ripped.”

While Snyder is surprised in a way that fans are already so pumped for Dawn of Justice, he also understands the anticipation.

“You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it’s Batman and Superman, let’s just be honest,” Snyder says. “I don’t know how you get bigger than that.”

January 11 Batman v Superman Won’t Be Split Into Two Films

An Internet rumor that spread last week about about Warner Bros. splitting “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” into two films turned out to be false. Henry Cavill, who plays Superman, confirmed over the weekend to Variety that the tentpole sequel directed by Zack Snyder will be released as one film.

Cavill added that Ben Affleck makes a “great” Batman. But he said he wasn’t injured in any of their fight scenes. “Are you kidding?” Cavill joked at the BAFTA tea at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. “I’m the Man of Steel.”

When asked if “Batman v Superman” would be more epic than Marvel’s “The Avengers,” he replied: “You’ll see.”

“Batman v Superman” is scheduled to open on March 25, 2016.

Synopsis:

Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”) stars as Napoleon Solo opposite Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as Illya Kuryakin in director Guy Ritchie’s “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” a fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s television series.

Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” centers on CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin. Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.

“The Man from U.N.C.L.E” also stars Alicia Vikander (“Anna Karenina”), Elizabeth Debicki (“The Great Gatsby”), with Jared Harris (“Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows”), and Hugh Grant as Waverly.

The screenplay was written by Guy Ritchie & Lionel Wigram, who previously collaborated on re-imagining the classic detective Sherlock Holmes in two hit films. The story is by Jeff Kleeman & David Campbell Wilson and Guy Ritchie & Lionel Wigram, based on the television series “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

April 22 Why Batman V Superman Isn’t A Man Of Steel Sequel

From cinemablend.com

If you’ve read many Internet rants or seen the latest Honest Trailer, people have some reservations about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The teaser trailer brought up a lot of questions as to what this movie actually is. Is it a Man of Steel sequel? Is it supposed to introduce Batman? Is it setting up Justice League? According to Henry Cavill, the answers are no, yes and yes.

MTV recently caught up with the Superman actor in Las Vegas for the CinemaCon presentation of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and pressed him for details. Though he didn’t say much, Cavill did reveal a couple of things, namely that Batman v Superman is not a Man of Steel sequel. Wait, what?

I wouldn’t call this a Superman sequel. This is Batman versus Superman, so it’s a separate entity altogether. It’s introducing the Batman character, and expanding upon this universe, which was kicked off by Man of Steel. It’s an introduction to the [Batman] character, and ultimately an introduction to Justice League.

That should help subside some of the complaints making the rounds…some of them, anyway.

Those present for last year’s San Diego Comic-Con got to see some early footage from Batman v Superman, but we were all eager to see the first full teaser trailer hit the airwaves. Layered with the voices of Holly Hunter, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons and Ben Affleck’s new, gravely Dark Knight timbre, this brief look was already jam packed. Coming off the events of Man of Steel, the world isn’t quite sure what to make of their new savior. Kal-El has his fair share of critics, his harshest being Lex Luthor (Eisenberg). While he’s dealing with that dilemma, he also has to worry about Batman stepping in to make him bleed. Why does the Caped Crusader hate Superman so much? What would cause so many people to turn on the man who saved the planet from General Zod’s army?

Then there’s the second half of the film’s title and Cavill’s statements to consider. Here’s the actor’s full statement.

While the film will primarily be about the Batman v Superman aspect, Dawn of Justice speaks to the trickle of appearances throughout. Warner Bros. made a big showing in casting Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, while we also received our first look at Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. In addition, Ray Fisher and Ezra Miller are reportedly making some type of appearance in the film, as well.

Director Zack Snyder has a lot on his plate, and it’s the same juggling act Joss Whedon faced with Avengers: Age of Ultron. There, he had to introduce Ultron, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, ignite some sparks between Captain America and Iron Man pre-Civil War, insert Easter eggs and a character from Black Panther, and further set up the Infinity War to come down the road. Reviews for Avengers are pretty positive, so here’s hoping Snyder can accomplish the same feat.

May 28 Henry Cavill pulls out of ‘Stratton’

straton

EXCLUSIVE: Man Of Steel star quits production just days before shooting was set to begin.

Henry Cavill has pulled out of the leading role in Special Forces thriller Stratton, less than a week before shooting was set to begin on June 2.

Action director Simon West (Con Air, The Expendables 2) was due to start shooting in London and Rome from next week on the film, based on the first of a series of novels by Duncan Falconer.

GFM Films is providing finance and worldwide sales and was selling the film at Marché du Film in Cannes last week.

But GFM co-founder Guy Collins told ScreenDaily that it was now contacting distributors to inform them of the change.

“After securing many distribution deals ahead of the market, we had a really good Cannes and had closed more deals ahead of production next week,” said Collins.

“But just before leaving Cannes last Friday we were informed by the production company that they wanted to push the start date back by around three weeks to finalise some additional casting and make some further fixes to the script.

“Then, during several meetings this week in London with both sets of producers including Henry Cavill, he told us he has decided not to shoot this script at this time. He had a different vision of what the film should be to us and the production team and wanted to delay production until September and shoot a different story and script.”

The project was originally optioned and developed by Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Elman’s Amber Entertainment Ltd, who are co-producers with Promethean Productions, the new production company created by Henry Cavill, his brother Charlie Cavill and producer Rex Glensy.

Cavill was to play Stratton a SBS (Special Boat Service) operative for MI5 as he and his team risk life, limb and national security to track down an international terrorist cell.

Shock

“It has been a shock for us and will be for our distributors,” added Collins, whose GFM Films was most recently involved with upcoming Simon Pegg comedy Absolutely Anything.

“We want to keep the production team together and Simon West as director so we have no option other than to exercise our rights under our funding agreements and replace Henry – which is not an easy task.”

When Cavill first came on board he said: “I’ve long wanted to tell a story about the British Special Forces and finally the opportunity has come around. Duncan Falconer’s work is fantastic and we are incredibly fortunate to be working with him so closely.

“We plan to convert the books to cinema as accurately as possible while keeping them topical. Simon West is a perfect match for this movie with his ability to marry storytelling and action, both of which are essential to do this project justice.”

The British actor will next be seen in Guy Ritchie’s spy thriller The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

Cavill’s representation had not responded to Screen at time of publication.

June 09 BATMAN V SUPERMAN Official Synopsis Revealed

This summer is already off to a big start with films like Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mad Max: Fury Road, and this weekend’s sure-to-be-monstrous Jurassic World, but next year summer comes very early. The March 2016 release date of Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated Man of Steel follow-up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice begins the summer blockbuster season literally just a few days after winter officially ends, and it’s sure to get things off to a momentous start.

We’ve already seen a number of teaser images and even a teaser trailer for director Zack Snyder’s star-studded superhero pic, but thus far Warner Bros. has yet to release an official synopsis. However, with the Licensing Expo set to begin tomorrow in Las Vegas, we’ve been provided with what appears to be the first synopsis for Batman v Superman. Take a gander below:

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

This jibes with what we’ve been hearing about the pic over the past year or so, and with the tone of the first teaser trailer. Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio take the “first contact” story of Man of Steel to its most likely next scenario, and that’s where Batman comes in—as an Earthbound justice-seeker who sees the alien Superman as a threat to humanity.

But what’s this “new threat” that presumably puts an end to Batman and Superman’s bickering? We still don’t know exactly how Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor factors into the story, but one imagines he’s not the only antagonistic force that takes on the two heroes. And where does Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman fit? With nine months still to go until release we’ve still got a ways to go before the story unfolds onscreen, but this synopsis is certainly tantalizing.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 26, 2016 and also stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Scoot McNairy, Jason Momoa, and Holly Hunter.

July 02 Comic-Con: ‘Batman v Superman,’ ‘Man From UNCLE,’ ‘Pan’ Casts to Appear at Warner Bros.’ Panel

Henry will attend not one, but 2 panels on this year’s Comic-Con! Via THR

San Diego Comic-Con attendees can enjoy a double-dose of Henry Cavill during the Warner Bros. Pictures panel on the Saturday of the annual pop culture extravaganza, as he promotes this summer’s The Man from UNCLE and next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Cavill will be joined on stage by Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki and director Guy Ritchie to promote the retro spy feature during the WB panel on July 11, which runs from 10:30am through 12pm in the massive Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center.

For Batman v Superman, he’ll be accompanied by director Zack Snyder, new Batman Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and cinema’s first Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot. The panel will feature an exclusive look at footage from the March, 2016 release.

There will also be a Cavill-less movie showcased during the panel, with Hugh Jackman, Garret Hedlund and Levi Miller taking the stage with director Joe Wright to promote Pan, the reimagining of the Peter Pan mythos.

In a statement, WB president, worldwide marketing and international distribution Sue Kroll said that Comic-Con “provides us a fantastic opportunity to interact with the fans and this year, as with every year, our aim is to surpass their expectations.” (Warners also promises “unexpected offerings that are sure to delight the crowd,” interestingly enough.) She added that Warners is also “thrilled” to offer filmmakers “a chance to experience the unique energy and enthusiasm” of the show.

July 02 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice featured Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con Special

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the featured of the Comic-Con issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. They have new photos. Here is the cover and two photos, will add scans when I get them:

The article from EW.com:

If you thought Pacquiao/Mayweather was the most-hyped head-to-head you’ve ever seen, just wait until these two contenders step into the ring. Batman and Superman are arguably the two biggest names in comics, a pair of capes known the world over, and Warner Bros. has thrown the mega-stars of DC Comics into a production that’s one-half superhero movie and one-half Pay-Per-View event.

EW was lucky enough to be on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and for this week’s special double-issue Comic Con Preview, we’re bringing you inside the production. The two heroes have crossed paths plenty of times in the Gordian tangle of comic-book canon, but never on-screen. But as Hollywood continues both its preoccupation with superheroes and universe-building—complete with more five-year plans than a Communist regime—it seemed inevitable that eventually these two brands would find their way into a single title.

Zack Snyder recalls the first time he pitched the idea, in a meeting with franchise co-captains Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer, it was only meant as an Easter egg. “I said, ‘What about at the end of the movie we do a scene where there’s a crate full of kryptonite delivered to Wayne Manor,’” says Snyder. “Everyone was like…‘Okaay.’ Once you say it out loud it’s a problem because you can’t unsay it.”

Batman v Superman introduces a new Batman only four years after the release of the final film in Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. Ben Affleck plays an older, wearier Caped Crusader, one drawn at least in part from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. “He’s on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it,” says Affleck. “But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical.” Worried that Superman’s unequaled power makes him more of a potential fascistic overlord than the hero we need, he makes it his duty to take him out of the sky for good.

Not content to consolidate only two eggs in this basket, they’ve also thrown in appearances by Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) for good measure. After all, this isn’t just a single movie, it’s a waystation to the upcoming Justice League double-fister, not to mention a whole slew of other attractions on the DC Extended Universe™ road map. And building a franchise into a potential behemoth is no easy work.“It’s a marathon. No, it’s a marathon within a marathon,” says Snyder. “Do you know that race from Death Valley to the top of Mount Whitney? It’s, like, 100 miles and it’s from the lowest point in the continental United States to the highest. It’s crazy. Anyway, it’s like that.”

Dive into this week’s issue for even more Comic-Con fare, including an in-the-flesh look at Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an oral history of M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable, a visit to the set of NBC’s upcoming Heroes: Reborn, and exclusive first-look images from anticipated movies and TV series including The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, Fantastic Four, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Fear the Walking Dead, Ash Vs. Evil Dead, and much, much more!

July 06 Batman v. Superman star Henry Cavill talks Dawn of Justice plot

For those wondering what the ratio of Superman to Batman will be in the upcoming Batman v Superman—that is, whether it’ll be Bruce Wayne guest-starring in a Superman movie, or something more equitable to reflect the title’s double-billing—Henry Cavill wants you to know that this isn’t going to be Man of Steel 2. “As far as the individual character is concerned, this is not a Superman sequel,” says Cavill. “It’s more of an introduction to Batman, an opening to Justice League, and an expansion of the world that was created in Man of Steel.”

Now that’s still about as vague on details as a Las Vegas groom, but it does indicate the intentions behind the movie. Like so many entries in a semi-serialized franchise universe, Batman v Superman will have to multi-task, serving as a narrative bridge as well as (presumably) a full movie in its own right.

So what are the chances for another standalone Man of Steel sequel? There’s no specific date set for one on the DC schedule, but Cavill seems to believe there are good odds we’ll see him fly solo again. “There’s plenty of time for individual Superman sequels,” the actor says. “He’s a tough character to tell. People like the darker vigilante. I think it speaks to the human psyche more easily rather than the god-like being that we can’t really understand. Once we have a more expansive universe we can delve more into the character of Superman and hopefully tell more stories.”

July 24 New Trailer for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. “Spies with Style”

August 03 Henry Cavill on Bond & The Man From Uncle 2 (Video)

Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer have been talking about their new movie, the Guy Ritchie-directed spy thriller, The Man From UNCLE.

Henry, who plays America CIA agent Napoleon Solo, talked about how he struggled at first with an American accent.

“I definitely struggled at the beginning because we hadn’t found the accent by the time we started shooting. When we were shooting Guy would come in and say ‘No, that sounds wrong,’ or ‘this sounds wrong’ or ‘try and say the word this way’ and because there’s no uniform structure to it, it became very difficult to perform and you become very conscious of speaking as opposed to acting and feeling. Eventually we found it about a quarter of the way through the movie because we found a way of speaking that was consistent.

The actor also joked about being approached the play Bond following Daniel Craig’s predicted exit: “It’s top secret so I can’t say anything.”

Armie also seemed keen: “Totally, I’m in. I’m not supposed to talk about it yet but I’ve had a conversation with someone.”

The movie, which GLAMOUR very much enjoyed, sets up for a sequel at the finale so we asked the boys if this was happening.

“We haven’t heard anything. We’d love to do it,” said Henry.

September 01 Superman Sequel Man of Steel 2 Is Finally Happening

Good news about the Man of Steel Sequence. Via Movieweb:

Superman fans are finally getting the news they’ve been waiting for. Man of Steel 2 has finally entered active development! Very poor reviews don’t seem to be affecting Warner Bros. and DC Films at the box office as much as one might think. Despite getting trashed on Rotten Tomatoes, Suicide Squad just shattered virtually every record in the books for an August opening to the tune of $135 million. And it is doing quite well overseas as well. But Warner Bros. knows they can’t keep the rest of the general public on board if their movies keep getting trashed by critics. So it looks like they are turning to their golden boy (or man in this case) to right the ship. Yes, it looks like we are getting a proper Man of Steel sequel.

According to a new report from The Wrap, Man of Steel 2 is in “active development,” which they have learned by a source close to the project. They weren’t able to name the source specifically, but this news doesn’t come as a huge surprise and makes quite a bit of sense. Well, it makes sense as long as Zack Snyder manages to bring Superman back to life in Justice League, which he has already pretty much confirmed to be the case.

Man of Steel kicked off the DC Extended Universe back in 2013 and was the first Superman movie we had seen since Bryan Singer’s much maligned Superman Returns from 2006. The Zack Snyder take on Superman did well enough at the box office, bringing in $668 million worldwide, and was enough for Warner Bros. to move ahead with a full slate of DC Comics movies. Those movies started with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year, also directed by Zack Snyder, and that did not go nearly as well as anyone would have hoped.

One of the primary issues with Batman V Superman was the treatment of Superman in what was essentially a sequel to Man of Steel. He played second fiddle to Batman, and was not handled in a way that made fans happy. Not to mention that, as it stands, he is six feet under after getting stabbed to death by Doomsday. People also weren’t happy about the treatment of the character beyond his origin in Man of Steel, most notably when he brutally killed General Zod on screen and destroyed an entire city, somewhat needlessly. The point is, despite Henry Cavill being pretty much perfect for the role of Superman, Warner Bros. has not handled him very well, and they know it.

The report claims that the studio is very aware that fans are not happy, and that getting the character right is a top priority for Warner Bros. There is no word on if they want Zack Snyder to also helm Man of Steel 2, but it seems unlikely. Not only is Snyder busy with Justice League at the moment, but if Warner Bros. really wants to get the character right, they will probably want to get a director with a different take and push it in a different direction.

For better or for worse, Man of Steel is currently the most well reviewed movie in the DCEU. Both Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad have an abysmal 27 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while Man of Steel sits at a bad but better 55 percent approval rating. There is no word on when we can expect Man of Steel 2, but we are likely going to have to wait a while. Warner Bros. has two untitled DC comics movies to be released on Oct. 5, 2018 and Nov. 1, 2019. Odds are, one of those will be the Ben Affleck directed Batman movie, and the other could very well be Man of Steel 2. We will (probably) next see Cavill as Superman in Justice League on November 17, 2017.

March 06 Henry Cavill And Ben Kingsley Board New Thriller Nomis

It’s Superman meets Trevor Slattery! All right, so it’s not actually a DC/Marvel mash-up (that we would totally watch), it’s really just news that Henry Cavill and Ben Kingsley are leading the cast of new psychological thriller Nomis.

Baywatch’s Alexandra Daddario has also signed on to the film, which writer-director David Raymond is busy preparing to shoot in Canada this month. The Hollywood Reporter’s story doesn’t specify what they’ll be doing in the film, but we do know that the story finds an American police force trapping an online predator, only to discover that the depth of his crimes goes beyond anything they had thought.

“I’m overjoyed by our cast,” says Raymond. “Henry’s got such a strong presence onscreen, but he’s also incredibly smart and has a wicked sense of humor. I think people are going to be blown away by what he’s going to do with this role. Sir Ben is always incredible. I wrote the character for him, so I was quite relieved when he signed on. Alexandra is a raw talent and has an undeniable electricity, which is exactly why I wanted her in this role.”

Cavill has war film Sand Castle arriving later this year and will be back in the cape for Justice League, out 17 November. Kingsley will be seen in Collide and Backstabbing For Beginners, while Daddario’s Baywatch is due 2 June.

March 17 Henry Cavill joins Mission: Impossible 6

Henry Cavill has joined Tom Cruise in the 6th Mission: Impossible movie, along with the returning cast Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson, and Simon Pegg. The announcement was quite interesting.

First the Director, Christopher McQuarrie posted on Instagram:

Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you're interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.

A post shared by Christopher McQuarrie (@christophermcquarrie) on

To which Henry properly responded:

October 27 ‘Justice League’ Premiere in Beijing

Hey guys, my name is Jasper and I’m the new owner of this site. I’d like to thank Annie for letting me take over. I’ve always been a huge fan of Henry, so I’m really excited to be running a fansite dedicated to him. There’s quite a lot of stuff that’s missing from the gallery, but I couldn’t make it in time to work and catch up on that before the press tour starts. In the meantime, I will do my best to keep the site updated during the press tour, and once everything starts to lie low after that, I will get on it, I promise.

Moving on, the “big six” are in China to kickstart the press tour of Justice League. I joined the livestream of the event, and you can see some screenshots over at our Twitter. The cast also received such an amazing gift from the Chinese fans, a traditional scroll with sketches of our superheroes on it! Everyone was thrilled about it, which Henry also took to his Instagram.

The guys at Film Gob recorded the livestream and uploaded it on their YouTube channel. Lastly, I have updated the gallery with some photos of Henry at the event, along with posters, promotional photos, and screen captures from the final trailer of Justice League. Enjoy!

November 08 New ‘Justice League’ Motion Poster Features Superman

Several promotional posters have been released over the past months, but none of them has featured Superman…until now! Warner Bros. has finally released a new motion poster that puts the Man of Steel in the spotlight.

The poster shows Superman with the phrase, ‘Hope Never Dies.’ In the background, we hear the voice of Lois Lane (played by Amy Adams) accompanied by a score by Hans Zimmer.

“This is what we know. The world has grown darker and while we have reason to fear we have the strength not to. There are heroes among us to remind us that only from fear comes courage, that only from the darkness can we truly feel the light.”

November 08 ‘Justice League’ London Press Junket

So I’m finally catching up on the updates I missed during the Justice League press junket in London from last weekend. Here are some details and videos from several interviews Henry did in London!

Starting with Henry’s Instagram, he shared a photo of him in the Star Labs set that is a part of the Justice League Experience, comparing it to his PC gaming set up at home. The cast also posed for a group photo at the themed rooms.

The guys at Cosmic Book News generously shared some photos from the press conference on their site. I have added those in our gallery!

ComicBook.com was at the press conference and shared some info on their website. The cast was asked what they want fans to walk away with after seeing the movie, to which Henry answered with “For me, I hope people walk away from it first of all having enjoyed it and had fun, but more importantly to have it inspire, and to walk away with a sense of hope.” The site also shared a video compilation of the interviews they did with cast, wherein they shared details on making the film. Henry’s part starts at around the 4:50 mark, and of course, he was asked about the mustache and the process of removing it for the final cut.

November 14 ‘Justice League’ World Premiere

The Big Six attended the world premiere of Justice League in Los Angeles last night. I have added high-quality photos of Henry at the event into the gallery! I’ll add more pics when I get more, so check our gallery again soon.

Also, fans were able to stream the red carpet premiere live, and you can check out the full coverage below. Henry’s interview is around the 43:25 mark.

November 21 Henry Cavill for Los Angeles Times: Superman’s Return in ‘Justice League’

Henry spoke with Los Angeles Times during the Justice League press junket in London early this month. He discussed Superman’s return in the film, and confirms he’s still contracted for at least one more film to appear as the Man of Steel.

By now it’s likely not a spoiler to reveal that “Justice League” includes the return of Superman, who sacrificed himself to save humanity at the end of 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” That film, which was generally regarded as overly dark and somewhat unwieldy, gave audiences a version of Superman (Henry Cavill) that felt morose and off-base from the comic books. Here, filmmaker Zack Snyder — as well as Joss Whedon, who stepped in to direct the re-shoots — uses “Justice League” as a chance to reestablish the character.

“He’s definitely different from previous incarnations,” Cavill says, speaking a few weeks ago during the “Justice League” press junket here. “I feel like this is the natural progression from the end of ‘Man of Steel’ into what he is now. This is a rebirth of the character, to coin the D.C. comics franchise right now: It’s a refresh.” He adds, “This movie highlights the qualities of Superman that exist in the comic books. That’s something I’ve always been very keen to highlight in the character. This rebirth provided the opportunity for me to play those characteristics.”

Superman was largely left out of the marketing campaign for “Justice League,” and most of the cast and the filmmakers did their best to keep the revival a secret for as long as possible. But fans, especially those familiar with the comic books, had been speculating for months, asking: “How can you have ‘Justice League’ without Superman?” One of the only clues for his return? Reports that Cavill’s mustache for the upcoming “Mission Impossible” sequel had to be digitally removed during the re-shoots, meaning that Superman would be somewhere in “Justice League” (“That damn mustache,” Cavill jokes). As it turned out, the studio always intended to include Superman but did its best to keep the rollout spoiler free.

“I think die-hard fans will know you can’t have the Justice League without Superman,” says producer Deborah Snyder. “Without Superman, there was this loss of hope. At the end of [‘Batman v Superman’], there was this impending doom. This danger that was coming. That was the impetus of Bruce [Wayne] recruiting the Justice League. That was the why. But the threat is so big and large that they still needed Superman. They needed to be a team.”

“His self-sacrifice causes such a huge ripple,” adds producer Charles Roven. “It’s so inspiring that his presence is really all over this movie before you know whether or not he’s going to come back. The world is not the same without him, because he was representative of hope. Here’s the thing: We wanted to make a movie that was about hope and the positive force hope is. And it meant that you had to bring him back.”

The process by which Batman (Ben Affleck) and the other members of the Justice League bring Superman back to life is complicated, involving several scenes that would be impossible to fully explain here. Suffice to say that Superman’s lifeless corpse (which was not played by Cavill for these scenes) is not lifeless for long. And ultimately, it’s Superman’s reaction to being awoken from death that’s more interesting than how he’s actually brought back. His initial anger and confusion shift to an emotional confrontation with himself over what’s happened to Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and his mother, Martha (Diane Lane), since his death.

“I think it’s very confusing for him in that scenario, as it would be for any of us,” Cavill says. “He’s trying to work out what the hell happened. I’m sure there’s a sense of failure there, akin to that sense of ‘I wish I hadn’t died so I could still be here and the world wouldn’t be in the state it’s in now and I could have protected my mother and Lois from the pain they’ve been experiencing.’ There’s that sense of guilt, but it comes with unconditional love. It’s not rational. One of the great things about us is that we still care even though we may not have a reason to feel guilty.”

November 22 Henry Cavill Thanks Fans for ‘Justice League’ Support

December 07 ‘Justice League’ Cinematographer: Superman Black Suit Scenes Were Filmed

INVERSE – The Man of Steel did not come back in black in Justice League, but don’t blame the camera crew. Scenes featuring Superman, played by Henry Cavill, wearing a black version of his costume were cut from the theatrical release of Justice League.

Fabian Wagner, an accomplished cinematographer who shot some of the biggest episodes of Game of Thrones — both “Hardhome” and “Battle of the Bastards” — was tasked with bringing Zack Snyder’s vision for the DC superhero movie to life. In an email interview with Inverse, Wagner says scenes with Superman wearing his black suit were removed in the final cut.

“There were [scenes shot],” Wagner said. “It’s a cool looking costume. Sadly, we didn’t see that either in the final cut.”

In 1993, a year after Superman was killed by Doomsday in The Death of Superman, the titular hero came back to life in Superman: The Man of Steel #25 and Superman#81 wearing a black jumpsuit with a silver “S” instead of his usual red/yellow symbol. (Also, he didn’t wear a cape.) Much like Spider-Man’s symbiote costume, the black variant is cool because, well, it’s black. It was the ‘90s.

Superman was killed by Doomsday in Batman v Superman. And though it played out differently than in the comics, Doomsday pretty much looked the way he should have. So it made sense that fans expected to see Henry Cavill wearing a black costume for Supe’s resurrection in Justice League. Cavill even teased the costume on his Instagram page during filming, and some tie-in merchandise was produced with the design. Now, the movie’s cinematographer says there are scenes with a black Superman costume, they’re just on the cutting room floor.

In fact, Wagner says “quite a few scenes” didn’t make the theatrical release of Justice League, not just black and silver Superman. “Zack takes his time with telling the stories, and I’ve always liked that about his movies. There are a few scenes that I was very much looking forward to seeing which unfortunately got cut.”

One other scene Wagner refers to is a scene from the final trailer, in which Alfred (Jeremy Irons) talks to an off-screen figure while doing maintenance on the Batmobile. “They said you’d come,” he says, looking up at the mystery character. “Let’s hope you’re not too late.”

Wagner, who shot the scene, is keeping mum in regards to whom Alfred is speaking to. (Most fans think it was Superman.) But he promises that maybe one day fans will finally know for sure. “It was a great scene to shoot,” he says. “It was one of my favourites and also didn’t make it.”

December 26 ACE Comic-Con

The Justice League cast members Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, and Jason Momoa attended the ACE Long Island convention last December 8th to 10th.

As Henry announced in his Instagram account, he conducted a Search for Hope treasure hunt wherein 30 original Superman sketches were hidden around the convention for fans to find. Clues were posted on Henry’s Instagram, which helped fals figure out the location for each sketch. All 30 individuals received a rare limited edition Superman coin and had a wonderful opportunity to attend a private Q&A session with Henry himself! Check out high-quality photos in our gallery, and the videos of the panel and the private Q&A below. Sorry for the delay on this! Happy Holidays to all.

The cast also did autograph and photo-op sessions. I didn’t include any to add to the gallery, as I felt weird posting some without the consent of the people. If you were one of the lucky ones to attend the event and had a photo-op with Henry and would like to share your photo with us, you’re more than welcome to send them to us via email! Just include a name or link for us to credit.

April 26 CinemaCon 2018

Henry attended this year’s CinemaCon with co-stars, Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, and Angela Bassett yesterday. Mission: Impossible – Fallout was one of the highlights of Paramount Pictures presentation for Summer 2018. The cast also took the stage and discussed the film, including the death-defying scene of Tom Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, that required 106 takes!

“It took a year to figure this sequence out,” Cruise told the Las Vegas crowd Wednesday, before screening the footage.

The scene involves Ethan Hunt and CIA agent August Walker (Henry Cavill) as they skydive into a lightning storm above Paris. Mid-jump, they are struck by lightening and Hunt must catch Walker, who is rendered unconscious, and resuscitate him mid-air.

“I felt like I was in Top Gun,” Cavill said of filming the high-altitude jump.

To rehearse the sequence, the crew built what they say is the largest wind tunnel in the world.

“We had to decide how much we could do that is physically possible without killing Tom,” said Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie.

You can read more details over at The Hollywood Reporter. Anyhow, I have also updated the gallery with some high-quality photos of Henry at the event.

Update: Added additional HQ photos, including those from the Pioneer of the Year Dinner wherein Tom Cruise was honored. Thanks to my friend, Mouza!

As an inquisitive young 1880s English girl, Enola sees no choice but to head to London on her own and meets a whole cast of colorful characters on her journey towards finding her mother.

Superman, The Witcher, Sherlock Holmes, and now the Highlander, we love our geeky king! Henry also shared his excitement on his Instagram account.

DEADLINE – In the world of the Highlander films, there can be only one and Henry Cavill has his eyes on the title. Sources tell Deadline that the Man of Steel star is in talks for one of the lead roles in Lionsgate’s reboot of Highlander with John Wick director Chad Stahelski helming. Kerry Williamson penned the script.

Neal H. Moritz and Josh Davis are producing the project. Amanda Lewis, Patrick Wachsberger and Gregory Widen will exec produce. Peter Davis, the original producer of the first film, was also on board to produce before his death this past February.

The original 1986 Highlander pic starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown as immortal beings, hunting down one another and collecting more power. The film — with its “There can be only one” catchphrase — spawned four sequels and three television series including the popular USA series starring Adrian Paul.

The plot of this latest take is unknown, as is whether Cavill will be playing a brand new character to the universe or a character from previous projects. The reboot has been gestating for a while with everyone from Ryan Reynolds to Justin Lin involved at some point, but sources say these latest pieces coming together put this film into position to get into production.

July 09 Henry Cavill Set for Spy Franchise ‘Argylle’

Here comes the latest addition to the Henry-Cavill-as-a-spy cinematic universe! Henry is part of an all-star cast for Matthew Vaughn’s next project, Argylle!

Matthew Vaughn commented: “When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the 50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”

Zygi Kamasa, CEO of Marv added: “We are delighted that we will be starting our fourth, and by far the biggest, feature film production since the start of the global pandemic. It demonstrates both our desire to scale up our production activity and our ambition to continue to launch new franchises beyond the Kingsman series of films.”

DEADLINE – Even after signing on to a Highlander reboot and Matthew Vaughn’s next spy action pic, Henry Cavill doesn’t look like he’s done setting up his future dance card as Deadline has confirmed that he is set to star in The Rosie Project.

Steve Falk will write and direct the film, which follows an unlucky-in-love university professor who creates an elaborate questionnaire in an effort to find a wife and meets an unconventional woman who doesn’t match any of his “requirements,” but might be the perfect woman for him.

The greater the spy, the bigger the lie. From the twisted mind of Matthew Vaughn comes Argylle, a razor-witted, reality-bending, globe-encircling spy thriller. Bryce Dallas Howard is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past. Accompanied by Aiden, a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.

The official trailer of Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare has been released! Check it out below, and some 4K-quality screencaps in our gallery. The film is set to be released on April 19th.

Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming. The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.
